Man sought for robbery

ALBANY — A man wearing blue jeans, a black jacket, a white shirt and a black Atlanta Braves baseball cap snatched cash from a 60-year-old man on Dec. 2 and ran away, an Albany Police Department report.

The police would like the community’s help in locating the thief, the report added. The thief was caught on the surveillance video at the A & D Food convenience store, 1421 N. Maple St.

According to the video timeline the suspect entered the store at 7:50 p.m. When Howard Lee Mitchell walked in the store less than a minute later the suspect asked him for change of a $50 bill.

“As he was pulling the envelope out of his pocket to make change, the suspect grabbed it and fled the scene on foot,” the report stated.

Although Mitchell ran after the suspect, the report added, he did not catch up to him. The suspect is wanted for robbery by sudden snatching, it added.
