ALBANY -- Mrs. Doris T. Johnson died Saturday, January 14, 2012 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
Her funeral service will be Monday 2 PM at Byne Memorial Baptist Church with interment in Floral Memory Gardens. Rev. Matthew Nance and Rev. Steve Williams will officiate. The family will receive friends Monday 12:30 to 2 PM at Byne Memorial Baptist Church.
A native of Birmingham, AL, Mrs. Johnson moved to Albany in 1929 with her parents Jeff and Elvia Terrell. She graduated from Albany High School in 1941 and has been a member of Byne Memorial Baptist Church for 79 years where she taught 2nd grade Sunday School for 22 years. She served as organist and pianist for church services for over 45 years and was pianist for Sr. Adult Choir and played keyboard in the church orchestra until the time of her death. She was a member of NARFE, H2U and Golden Key. Mrs. Johnson was retired from MCLB in 1984 after 30 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Walter Raleigh Johnson and grandson Robert Donald McKay, Jr.
She is survived by 2 sons, Terry McKay and wife Sharon, Albany, Don McKay and wife JoAnn, Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, Gina Luplow, Washington, Rachel McKay, Las Vegas, NV, Kelly McKay Walker and husband Chad, Oxford, GA, John McKay and wife Kristi, North Ogden, UT and 12 great grandchildren.
