BLAKELY -- Jethro Franklin "Frank" Gowan, 84, of Blakely, died January 13, 2012 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 16 at 11:00 a.m. at the Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Smith and Rev. Jay Reppert officiating. Interment will follow in the Blakely Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 PM until 7 PM at the funeral home Sunday evening. Pallbearers will be Jerry Creel, Steve Gowan, "Little" Bill Gowan, Kenneth Enfinger, Donald Ray Enfinger and Bobby Joe Enfinger.
Born October 28, 1927 in Early County, Mr. Gowan was the son of the late Jim Gowan and Trudie Justice Gowan. Mr. Gowan was a member of Southside Baptist Church and The Builders Sunday school class. He was a farmer and a life-long resident of Early County.
Survivors include his wife, Nettie Ruth Harper Gowan, five daughters, Lynda Parker and husband Wayne; Diane Gowan; Ellen Everson-Taylor and husband Frank; Rhonda Paul and husband Ronnie; and Trudie Evans and husband Ed. Other survivors include his brother, Justin "Bill" Gowan, with whom he farmed; and sister Joyce Buchman from Bettsville, Ohio. Mr. Gowan has six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Gowan was preceded in death by two daughters, Myra and Doris Gowan; two sisters, Juanita Harper and Jeanette Enfinger; and three brothers, Julius "Pop", James, and Jacques "Mick" Gowan.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Southside Baptist Church in Blakely, Georgia.
