DAWSON -- Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Dillard of Venice, FL, formerly of DeSoto and Leslie, died on January 12, 2012 at Tidewell Hospice in Venice. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on January 17, 2012 at Calvary Baptist Church in Leslie with Rev. William Hall officiating. Interment will follow in the DeSoto Cemetery in DeSoto.
Family visitation will be held prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church.
Betty was a native of Eufaula, AL, born November 15, 1922, daughter of the late Robert Blackmon and Mary Ellen Chapman Blackmon. She lived in the Leslie-DeSoto Community for almost 70 years prior to moving to Venice in 2007.
She was married to the late Otis Tripp of Leslie and later to the late Everett "Curly" Dillard of DeSoto. She was a cosmetologist and owner of Betty's Beauty Shop of Leslie, GA.
Betty was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church and had served as church secretary.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by two sons, Infant Boy Tripp and Everett G. Dillard, Jr., and two sisters, Annie Britt Coleman and Grace Juanita Davis.
Survivors include her children, Otis R. Tripp, Sr. and wife Gwen of Dawson, Laura T. Lamb and husband Billy of Berrien Center, MI, Fenn Dillard and wife Cheryl of Jacksonville, FL, and Britt Dillard of North Port, FL; eight grandchildren: Tammy T. Cuff, Otis R. Tripp, Jr., Mechelle Miller, Haleigh Dillard, Allison Dillard, Jack Dillard, Kaitlyn Dillard, and Chloe Dillard; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson, Kegan Bentley.
