MLK Day; service with AmeriCorps

ALBANY, Ga. — To honor Martin Luther King’s legacy on Monday the day set aside in his honor, Albany Police AmeriCorps plans a litter pickup and silent march starting at 9 a.m. Monday.

The cadets extend an invitation to the community to join them at the community center, 530 W. Broad Ave. The day is planned to empower individuals, strengthen the community, bridge barriers, create solutions to social problems and help the community move closer to King’s vision of a beloved community.

There will be a motivational speaker to inspire, a time of picking up litter and then a silent march from the C.M.E housing community on Society Avenue to the William Binns Community to end the event with reflection and a lunch.
