"I can’t believe all these Class A high school coaches. If they can’t win against the private schools, they threaten to take their footballs, baseballs and softballs and go home. Why not just get better and compete with these private schools?"

Why are public schools playing private schools anyway? The public schools are right in wanting to form their own association. Private schools use these smaller schools as schedule pads to make them look good. Private schools can pick and choose and offer scholarships to the best players leaving public schools having to take what they can get. I agree that public school need their own division. It would level the playing field for talented kids who are getting lost in the shuffle of this mix/

It's ironic that the situation has turned this way. What I wrote in response to the original article from Friday's paper was:

This is chicken scratch. A bunch of whiney good ol' boy coaches who can't put it together to whip the smart kids in the Atlanta area private schools. Raw athleticism meets brains AND brawn. Raw athleticism loses. So kick the Privates in the privates (LOL) and create your own little playoff scheme so "I can be champion too!" There is safety in numbers for you good ol' boy coaches. I would not have had the gall to make your argument alone. People keep challenging the GISA AAA schools to "play up!" meanwhile the GHSA A public schools will be "playing down".

What sport are you talking about? Everybody knows these local private schools object to playing the local public schools in football, basketball, and track. Dave Davis (Deerfield)has clearly said there is no way his school will be the playing public schools here.....He knows what will happen!!!

Deerfield opting to compete against local public schools in sports would make about as much sense as Monroe & Dougherty High trying to beat Deerfield's graduation and college acceptance rates. See? I can state the obvious too.
