Anyone who can't see how something like this could happen hasn't been in combat. These Marines will be dealt with. Their lives forever changed due to stupid decisions made in a few moments. In order to deal with the pain of killing another human being we dehumanize the enemy in our minds. Extended exposure to this level of stress and war has had a history of breakdowns like this. It's not ok.......BUT it is explainable.

Their Lives were changed forever when they earned the Eagle, Globe and Anchor and the Titles of United States Marine. They were changed again when selected to become Marine Infantry and then changed forevery day of their lives, when they had to witness the horrors of combat. If you have never seen combat, Shut Up, you have no idea period. What possessed these Marines to act this way, only they can answer, it could have been hours of a prolonged fire fight, the horror of seeing a good friends face turned into mush when a bullet struck, any number of things could have happened. If your never had boots on the ground and YOUR life in harms way, YOU DO NOT HAVE CLUE AND CANNOT JUDGE...

Bob Lonsberry put it very well when he said...You pee for us all, Marine. That group of Camp Lejeune snipers is condemned by the political Generals, but embraced by the American people. Because that's what you get when you screw with the United States of America. You get a bullet through the brainpan, and we're going to line up to spit on the pieces. Unless we have a full bladder...

Stupid to video it, yes. Even dumber to let it get out. Snipers are taught that the Enemy is just a target, nothing more. At Long Bien they used to refer to them as Woodchucks in a Pennsylavania Pasture. Vermin to be destroyed. I don't know why they did it, but I have seen similar pictures that were hand delivered to certain Military Family members, or Service members in Hospital, to show the score was settled, at least in part.

Allen West said it best:

“I have sat back and assessed the incident with the video of our Marines urinating on Taliban corpses. I do not recall any self-righteous indignation when our Delta snipers Shugart and Gordon had their bodies dragged through Mogadishu. Neither do I recall media outrage and condemnation of our Blackwater security contractors being killed, their bodies burned, and hung from a bridge in Fallujah.

“All these over-emotional pundits and armchair quarterbacks need to chill. Does anyone remember the two Soldiers from the 101st Airborne Division who were beheaded and gutted in Iraq?

“The Marines were wrong. Give them a maximum punishment under field grade level Article 15 (non-judicial punishment), place a General Officer level letter of reprimand in their personnel file, and have them in full dress uniform stand before their Battalion, each personally apologize to God, Country, and Corps videotaped and conclude by singing the full US Marine Corps Hymn without a teleprompter.

“As for everyone else, unless you have been shot at by the Taliban, shut your mouth, war is hell.”

We should be broadcasting that video to the Taliban as part of our psycops. I thank those Marines for being there. I congratulate them on their hunt. I am embarrassed that our "leadership" is apologetic. I am disgusted that this incident has been blown out of proportion and that the careers of brave men will be affected. These Marines have more honor than the ones who apologize for them.

This kind of comment is childish and represents rather limited thinking. There are always members of any large group that display conduct that is contrary to the highest standards. Today's US military is among the most professional the world has ever known, especially when you consider the kind of engagements it has been thrust into and the kind of enemy it faces in the Middle East.

Tommy doll, you wild and silly guy, you should know better than to be this judgemental of lowbrow behaviour.

Tommy Doll I am sure these young men wish they could have a do over on this but they did it and it was not the right thing to do. All I can say is I thank these young Marines for putting there life on the line each day. Without the commitment you would not be able to go online and make stupid statements. If you made those statements in certain society's in this crazy world you would get a know at your door and take you away to the local torture chamber before they hang you from the local bridge. I dare you to travel to Afganistan and walk out an try to talk to the Taliban. See how long it takes them to hang up up like a deer and gut you. Thank you Marines. Army, Navy and Airforce for our freedoms even if we have to include Tommy Doll.
