ALBANY — It’s time again to get on board for the Flint River Model Railroad Club’s Train Show and Sale.
The 21st annual event, hosted by the Flint River Model Railroad Club of Albany, will be held 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday at Knights of Columbus Hall, located at 2009 Gillionville Road.
Admission is $6 for adults and free for ages 12 and under accompanied by and adult.
Visitors will be able to see operating Z, N, HO and O scale trains, as well as a large Lionel O27.
“We’ll have operating trains including an N scale 6-by-17-foot layout and 027 Lionel three-rail.” said David Godwin, president of the Flint River Model Railroad Club.
Club members will be on hand to answer questions about laying track, building bench work, detailing and building models, and finding sources for models and kits.
Sunday will feature a raffle for an 4-by-8-foot HO starter layout, which includes a locomotive, transformer and scenery. The raffle winner will be contacted if not present during the drawing.
Train enthusiasts can also purchase a variety of railroad-themed items at the show, such as model trains, shirts, caps, paintings and buttons. Vendors and appraisers from Georgia, Alabama and Florida will be available to offer information and answer questions about their wares.
“Anyone interested in railroading is invited to come and check out this annual event,” said Godwin.
