Homeless man found asleep in car charged

ALBANY, Ga. — A homeless man tried to leave the 1996 Honda Accord he slept in, only to have the car’s owner, Thomas McCray, 55, slam the door on him at 4:50 a.m. Friday, keeping him in custody for Albany Police Department officers on the 400 block of West Whitney Avenue.

The unnamed suspect was treated at the scene for any injury from having the door slammed on him and then was taken into custody. He was wearing a coat he allegedly stole from McCray’s shed earlier in the month. The suspect is under investigation concerning other missing items, including a boat motor. No further information was immediately available as the case remains under investigation.
