APD probing assaults

ALBANY — Investigations into two aggravated assault incidents that occurred within minutes of each other early Sunday have so far yielded no arrests.

At 1:20 a.m., three victims — identified as Jae’quan Trent, Casmarah Mimbs and Dorothy Reynolds — reported such an incident after a knife was pulled on them at 616 Willard Ave.

When Albany Police Department officers responded to the location, Trent and Mimbs stated they intervened in a physical altercation between a suspect and Reynolds. At some point, the suspect pulled out a knife and attempted to cut them with it.

The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival.

Roughly 20 minutes later, the APD responded to a similar incident at 725 E. Broad Ave. In that case, officers responded in reference to a fight. Upon their arrival, the victim stated that three female suspects attacked her and used a knife to cut her across the forehead. The suspects left the scene; police were unable to locate them.

The victim, identified by authorities as Ashley Mack, was taken to Phoebe North after suffering the laceration to her forehead.

No arrest has been made in either case.
