ALBANY -- Mrs. Lessie P. Miller, 88, passed away on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 in Dothan, AL. Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 30, 2012 at Hines Memorial Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Albany, GA with Pastor and Presiding Elder Kenneth D. McMillian to officiate. Committal service will follow at the Rose Lawn Gardens of Memory. Family, Church Officers and friends will serve as pallbearers. Stewards, Stewardesses, Trustees of Hines Memorial Christian Methodist Episcopal Church will serve as honorary escort.
Lessie was born on March 16, 1922 in Albany, GA. She had a relationship with Jesus Christ confirmed, she became a member of the Hines Memorial Christian Methodist Episcopal Church where she would grow to be more like Him and where she would begin a fruitful career of service as a missionary, a trustee and a Sunday School Teacher. She especially loved ministering to younger children and was highly effective in this ministry both Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.
Having received the Bachelor of Science Degree from Albany State College and the Master of Science Degree from Florida A&M University, she extended her service as an educator and taught at the Hazzard Laboratory on the campus of Albany State College and later at the Turner Elementary School where she served until retirement.
Following a long life of committed growth, service, and ministry her Lord transitioned her to his side. A gracious economical and spirited woman, she leaves to continue her legacy of love and service to and in her, two sons, Joseph C Miller of Griffin, GA and Adrian Miller of Dothan, AL; her three grandchildren, Josef T. L. Miller, Shaeste L. Miller and Amy Miller; her five great grandchildren, Alante, Jotavius, Amarique, Jyonna and Aerik. Her gracious spirit will also continue to live in her sister, Mrs. Verma Walker of Albany, GA; her two nephews, Roderick West and Vernon West and her great niece, Roderica West.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 29, 2012 from 4:00-6:00 PM at Hines Memorial Christian Methodist Episcopal Church in Albany, GA.
