Shane Jackson, formerly of Leesburg, has been awarded the Exceptional Civilian Service Medal.
Jackson distinguished himself as the Defense Contract Management Agency’s Task Force Quality Assurance Representative. He performed his duties at Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom from December 2010 through June 2011.
He organized an emergency inspection at Camp Cunningham which identified health and safety issues at three facilities that had been deemed ready for occupancy. He then organized a team to correct the issues, which then provided safe housing to more than 720 troops.
Jackson also provided training to more than 40 new QARs and managed 12 electrical subject matter experts who re-inspected more than 800 life, health and safety issues.
He also was awarded the Global War on Terrorism medal and the NATO medal.
Jackson is the son of Colleen and Chris Jackson of Leesburg. He is a presidential merit scholar graduate of Albany State University and resides in Acworth with his wife, Kim.
