STONE MOUNTAIN -- Hubert W. Adams of Stone Mountain, a former Albany resident and the father of University of Georgia President Michael F. Adams, died Sunday.
Adams, 87, worked 35 years in retail sales with Kraft Foods Company. Adams was credited with being part of a small group, which included J.L. Kraft, who helped build Kraft into one of the world's largest and most profitable food companies.
Adams retired in 1996 as retail sales manager for the Eastern Seaboard.
He served in numerous civic and church leadership roles. He was given the J.L. Kraft Jade Award, which is the top service award given by the company.
He married his childhood sweetheart, Jean Taylor, in 1947. She died in 2003.
Survivors, in addition to his son, include a daughter, Marsha Adams Kelley, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services are planned at 11 a.m. Thursday at Tom Wages Funeral Home in Snellville. The family will receive visitors from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
