ALBANY The second preliminary Flint RiverQuarium Turtle Mini Race will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Flint RiverQuarium, 101 Pine Ave. The first turtle to cross the finish will win $500 for its owner.
A previous mini race was held on Jan. 7 and the winner of that race was Albany businesswoman Judy Randle.
The winner from this race and the January race will be entered in the main Flint RiverQuarium Turtle Race to be held at 4 p.m. March 3 as a part of the Rock, Roll and Run Weekend. Prizes for the March race include $5,000 in cash, free gas for a year, $1,000 in groceries, a Hobie Lanai kayak, mosquito treatment, a Taste of Albany package, a SCUBA certification class and a doggie spa weekend.
Turtles may be adopted online at www.flintriverquarium.com, by mail, or at the Flint RiverQuarium. Turtles can be purchased for $5 each, or you may purchase them in multi-turtle packages.
