SYLVESTER -- The funeral services for the late Mrs. Jessie Mae Thomas of 149 Towncreek Drive, Sylvester, Georgia, who departed this life on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia, will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. from the Sylvester New Beginnings Missionary Baptist Church in Sylvester, Georgia with the pastor, Reverend Calvin Wells, Sr., officiating. Burial will follow in the Shepard Memorial Garden Cemetery in Sylvester, Georgia.
Mrs. Jessie Mae Thomas was born on February 4, 1947 in Worth County, Georgia.
She was educated in the Worth County Public School System, and graduated from J. W. Holley High School in 1966.
Jessie Mae gave her life to Christ at an early age, and became a member of Hopewell Baptist Church. Later in life, she attended Sylvester New Beginnings Missionary Baptist Church.
She worked for Prestolite, Inc. in Tifton, Georgia. After Prestolite closed down, she worked for Shaw Industries in Tifton, Georgia, and worked part-time at Jackson's Soul Food Kitchen in Sylvester, Georgia.
She leaves to cherish her memories her husband, Johnny Will Thomas; a daughter, Tracy G. Thomas of Sylvester, Georgia; two sons, Patrick (Sherry) Thomas, Frederick D. Thomas, both of Sylvester, Georgia; nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and three additional great grandchildren; brothers, John (Mattie) Lewis of Sylvester, Georgia, Herbert (Ola Mae) Smith , Dave Smith, Jr., both of Tifton, Georgia; a godson, Charles B. Thomas.
