The Albany Police Department is looking for the battery suspect, right, at an ATM machine on SunTrust Bank on West Broad Avenue.
ALBANY — The Albany Police Department Uniform Bureau is soliciting the public’s assistance with identifying a battery suspect captured on bank surveillance video more than two months ago.
The incident took place at SunTrust Bank located 410 W. Broad Ave. on April 30 at 4:24 p.m. The victim, 61-year-old Willie Hardwick, was using the ATM at the bank when he was approached by an unknown black male, police said.
The two engaged in a brief verbal dispute after the victim repeatedly asked the suspect to move away from him and he refused, officials with the APD say.
Shortly afterwards, the suspect struck the victim with a closed fist causing him to fall to the ground, police said.
The victim was able to obtain the tag number of the suspect’s tan Nissan Altima, which is BXY8725.
Anyone with information should call the APD at (229) 431-2100, or provide information anonymously to Albany Crime Stoppers at (229) 436-TIPS (8477).
Those who call into Crime Stoppers may be eligible for cash rewards.
The suspect is described as a black male approximately 25 years of age who is about 5-feet-10 inches tall. In the surveillance video provided by police, he was wearing a red shirt and tan shorts.

This happened on April 30. Why am I just now being asked to help nag this thug? By now you're case has gone cold, the thug is still out there, and likely or not now has a gun to stick in somebodys face. Quick action usually yields positive results. Don't enlist my help as a last ditch effort when all your leads dry up. This man deserves justice and so does this coward.

Why wait so long to ask for help? Why didn't the license-tag number lead to the attacker? These are questions that should be addressed in the story,
