ATLANTA -- Inmate Warren Lee Hill faces execution by lethal injection at 7 p.m. July 18.
His representatives have been invited to a clemency appointment at 9 a.m. Friday with the Board of Pardons and Paroles.
"The Parole Board is the sole authority in death penalty cases regarding the granting of clemency and commuting the death sentence to life without parole," said Steve Hayes, spokesman for the board.
Barring any appeals resulting in court action or clemency from the board, the execution will take place, Hayes added.
Courts all the way up to the U.S. Supreme Court have either dismissed or refused to hear any appeals already filed.
According to the email from the parole board: "In 1991, a jury convicted Warren Lee Hill of murder and sentenced him to death. Hill was serving a life sentence (in the Lee Correctional Institution) for the 1986 murder of his girlfriend, when he killed Joseph Handspike, another inmate at the Lee Correctional Institute, on August 17, 1990."
