Squawk of the Day - July 12, 2012

"I am getting tired of everywhere I go having to look at all these baggy pants down below their buttocks. Why pass a law if no one is planning to enforce them? Pretty soon they will be allowed to walk the streets naked."

For the record several people have been issued citations for sagging pants, but with so much crime going on, the police can't be on every street corner every minute of the day citing these clowns.

1

bigbob 1 year, 9 months ago

If 70 cops can't handle a few roudy teens at the fireworks display writting these tickets should be right up their alley.

0

chinaberry25 1 year, 9 months ago

No one likes it either except for the ones wearing them. But in all fairness, you cannot run from the law with your pants hanging down. Easier to catch. But their payback will be in the stride they have to use to walk. They will need surgery on their hips in their old age. And with Obamacare, they will have to wait for years to get it.

1

erudite 1 year, 9 months ago

You do know that the healthcare act is a copy of Romney's Massachusetts program, right? If anything, the program is RomneyCare, not ObamaCare.

1

alleebrin 1 year, 9 months ago

Have you readd Romney's Massachusetts program? I doubt it!

1

bigbob 1 year, 9 months ago

Wow that really tells you how bad obomacare sucks when they don't want credit for it.

1

MisterEd 1 year, 9 months ago

You do know that Romney's plan didn't raise any taxes, right? Whereas the Sotocare plan will increase approximately 21 new taxes.

0

erudite 1 year, 9 months ago

Really? Ask somebody from MA.

0

ObjectiveEyes 1 year, 9 months ago

No it is NOT a copy of "RomneyCare." RomneyCare covered about 3% of the Massachusetts population and did not include 21 hidden taxes!
Got anymore Democratic talking points (lies) that need to be debunked?

0

erudite 1 year, 9 months ago

Sources? How "objective" are your "eyes"? If you can provide sources that are objective, I'll read them. Being an MA resident, I think I know what it covers though. But please, be my guest, tell me what I need to know. BTW...not a dem., 'objective eyes'.

0

FlunkyMonkey 1 year, 9 months ago

If the APD would start solving some of these breakins, the number people wearing saggy pants on the street would be greatly diminished....

3

waltspecht 1 year, 9 months ago

Now if the clothing approaches a qualifiable exposure, I say ticket them. However, I think you will find most that use this display don't have the visiable means of support to pay the fine. So it is a waste of Court time to even issue this type of ticket. Unless you believe the municipality should invest about $150 to in essence tell these individuals to pull their pants up, with no return other than a writen essay like Willie has asked for in other cases, or possibly some half hearted road cleaning where it will again cost money to get it done.

They can but they won't.... From the U.N., to these Big #???"s, nations, states, and local governments..... These entities don't enforce a lot of stuff..... The "system" isn't going to do anything to them anyway..... No-brainer there..........

And then...Romney tried to speak at the NAACP Convention and got Booed!!!! hahahaha OMG.....He tried to disrespect Obama by calling Affordable Health Care-- "Obama Care"........hahahahaha....He got "booed" for 14 seconds!!!! He thought he had some new friends....until....hahahahaha.......Oh God.....I'm sorry, it was so funny.....Romney made a fool of himself again.....I'm sorry, what was this squawk about????

coach johnson & his opinions are irrevelent. he is just a field hand on the Democrat Slave Plantation, blindly following his Slavemaster, Obama & the democrats.

4

Jacob 1 year, 9 months ago

I saw that too. Most of America was hoping that the organization that invited him as a guest speaker would have evolved enough by this time to at least demonstrate a modicum of class and dignity. Class always shows through, doesn't it, coach? I was disappointed and ashamed for black people all over. Even your remarks of joy at the juvenile behavior serve to reinforce the notion that some groups in America are unable to see past skin color and grow up. I guess that explains the current situation in this town of widespread corruption and incompetence in most every section of government.

ROFLMAO Once again proof the cool-aid drinkers will repeat everything they are told to…way to go Coach…..watch the tape they also gave him a standing ovation several times. Where is your Master…oyea he is sending Biden Boy to speak cause he does not have time to waste on folks he knows will blindly follow him. Mitt proved he has guts your master has proved time and time he has no guts just apologies. Way to go Coach DAN

Obama is not going cause he cant face the people he failed... unemployment amoung blacks is 14.4%, The people who wanted a new kitchen, didnt get one, those who wanted a new car, still have the same car, the people who wanted jobs, cant find one, so Obama's not showing up, but Romney did. ...AND, because they are black, Obama knows he's got their vote anyway, just like da corch's...

1

VSU 1 year, 9 months ago

Since Da Corch is talking presidents.....

Democrats set fundraising records in June. Mitt Romney did too—and outraised President Obuma by more than 30%.

Just one month after President Obuma signed a back door amnesty executive order for hundreds of thousands of young illegal aliens, his administration is now planning to shut down nine Border Patrol stations. Obuma says "Welcome illegal aliens"

Regarding the higher taxes, Obuma claims the American people are behind him on raising the taxes. “The American people are with me on this,” Obuma said. “Poll after poll shows that is the case.”

Actually the only ones behind him on this are the ones who are happy to have the federal government take money from people who have a lot and give it to them.

he did not make a fool out of his self. at least he had the stones to show up, UNLIKE your pres. obama was eather to scared to show up or he doesnt care. you figure it out. and dont say he didnt have the time, becouse that would be BS, he eather was scared or he just doesnt care.

The NAACP is supposed to boo white folk but not half white.

0

ObjectiveEyes 1 year, 9 months ago

You would think that the NAACP would have a little more respect and decorum than to boo a presidential candidate, but, then again, I guess I'm asking too much. The company I work for is a member of the NAACP (long story) and I get daily blast emails from their President. The useless drivel and lies that he communicates to the AA community will blow your mind. (and, they call us, "racists.")

0

tocar 1 year, 9 months ago

Saggy pants look like penquins walking. How intelligent do they look?

2

MisterEd 1 year, 9 months ago

Which is simply proof that 90% of the black population will vote for Obama simply because he has dark skin..........period. They've already made up their minds. It wouldn't matter if he had been convicted of filling out free and reduced lunch applications - they would vote for him again.........

0

Hawk59 1 year, 9 months ago

Not wanting to comment on yet another stupid squawk, I have decided to comment on your post MisterEd. You are probably correct that 90% of the Black population will vote for President Obama. But your reasons are wrong and disrespectful to a whole race of people. Is it not wrong for White people to do the same? Have it ever crossed your mind that maybe some Black voters try to vote for the best qualified candidate? Do you think that voters have forgotten why President Obama was elected in the first place? Smart voters will understand that it will take longer to rise from this recession, than it took for the economy to fall.Smart voters will remember that the present Administration walked into the White House in a no-win situation to begin with, and that it will take decades to recover from the greed and bad decisions made by the previous Administration. And finally the deciding vote that might send President Obama to victory could be from the Latino voters. Who do you think they will most likely endorse?

2

MisterEd 1 year, 9 months ago

Name ONE thing that Obama and the Democratically controlled Senate have done to turn this economy around. Just one. And since you won't find anything for that one, show us where they have produced ONE budget since he's been in office.

I would have voted for Herman Cain had he stayed in the race. If it would have been Cain versus Obama, Barry Soto would have still gotten 90% of the vote, because his ideals and plans don't require for those that sit on their asses to do anything but sit on their asses.

While you spend time looking for answers you won't find, I'm going to walk to Maine and back. Good luck.

3

Hawk59 1 year, 9 months ago

I don't have to name or look for anything, Too busy multi-tasking and trying to run a business. But I can give you several reasons why we are,. and will be years trying to recover from this terrible economy. Former President Bush along with his henchmen and greedy rich and powerful friends. Remember the reason we went to war was to find and recover Iraq's weapons of mass destruction? Where are they? Hint... There aren't any, never was and the previous Administration knew that. But still decided to start a costly war that we have lost, and still are losing soldiers. All of this at a cost that we cannot afford. Tricking the public into thinking they could afford those sub-prime loans that were doomed to begin with, knowing that the home prices were over-inflated. And allowing companies to buy and flip those properties for a profit. So there is enough blame to go around for everyone, just some more than others. So what do you think the final cost of this war will cost the taxpayers? While you spend time looking for the answers that you won't find, I'm going to see how much money I can make my company.

1

MisterEd 1 year, 9 months ago

Tricking the public into thinking they could afford those sub-prime loans? Are you freaking serious? How about those loans that went to people that couldn't afford the loans, but Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae kept right on handing them out to be "fair" to the minorities? Who forced anybody to sign on the dotted line and buy something they couldn't afford? We obviously are looking through a different set of lenses on that topic.

And I'm glad you're running a business. Good for you. I'm off for the summer, waiting on a new school year to start. Godspeed.

When you get back from Maine....you may want to read this:

President Obama:

Oversaw the creation of more jobs in 2010 alone than Bush did in eight years. http://bit.ly/hrrnjY
Along with Democrats, and almost no Republicans, implemented an auto industry rescue plan, and saved as many as 1 million jobs. http://bit.ly/ibhpxr Many are of the opinion that he saved the entire auto industry, and even the economy of the entire Midwest. http://bit.ly/gj7mt5 This resulted in GM returning to its place as the top car company in the world. http://lat.ms/zIJuQx Willard Romney, on the other hand, advocated for the entire industry to go belly-up. http://nyti.ms/k0zp
Through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, saved at least 300,000 education jobs, such as teachers, principals, librarians, and counselors that would have otherwise been lost. http://1.usa.gov/ez30Dc
Signed the Democratic-sponsored Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, which restored basic protections against pay discrimination for women and other workers. This was after the GOP blocked the bill in 2007. Only 5 Republican Senators voted for the bill. http://bit.ly/fT3Cxg
Funded Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) with an extra $1.4 billion to improve veterans’ services. http://1.usa.gov/huhqfo
Along with Congressional Democrats, supported and signed Veterans Health Care Budget Reform and Transparency Act, which made more money available to enable better medical care for veterans. http://1.usa.gov/fN4ur1
Ordered and oversaw the Navy SEALS operation that killed Osama bin Laden. http://bit.ly/jChpgw
Two weeks after taking office, signed Democratic-sponsored Children’s Health Insurance Reauthorization Act, which increased the number of children covered by health insurance by 4 million. http://bit.ly/fDEzGv
Through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act , cut taxes for 95% of America's working families. http://bit.ly/eSEI4F

So with your money, and my money, he saved some union jobs for the automakers like Government Motors? Remind me again how much money Ford Motor Company accepted? How are they doing these days?

Do you seriously believe that more jobs were created in 2010 than in the 8 years Bush was in office? I guess they must have all hauled ass somewhere else, but I don't recall unemployment being anywhere close to what it is now for those 8 years that Bush was in office.

And the use of the word "transparent" with regards to this administration is beyond funny..... (remember how he promised this would be the most transparent government ever?) If he's so transparent, why hide documents related to Fast and Furious? Why have his writings from Occidental College been hidden?

PS.........I walked really fast.

FINALLY SOMEONE SPEAKING WITH SENSE. -

0

ustaknow 1 year, 9 months ago

The irony of all of the crime and laws being broken in Albany is the fact that we have one of the largest black universities in America and one of the most sought after courses there is Criminal Justice. Yet within eyesight of their front door our fireworks show was shutdown. Then all across our city smash and grabs are common place.

Somewhere along the line a question arises and that question is: Is ASU just a show horse because they are surely not making an impact on crime irrespective of the number of criminal justice graduates.

I would be ashamed if i was president of that college and the fireworks show was shutdown at my front door.

0

tduncanspradley 1 year, 9 months ago

WHY Should the school be ashamed b/c some teens were at the fireworks acting a mess? what does that have to do with asu and their pres.

1

USTPC 1 year, 9 months ago

Maybe I am in the minority here but why is this such a big deal? I agree the look is stupid and I do not really care to see other peoples underwear but what is the real harm? How is it any different than dying their hair Purple or Orange or having their face pierced in 20 different places? Those looks are just as stupid but no one complains about them or passes a law against them. As long as they do not show their butt cracks or genitalia they are not hurting anything. I find it much more offensive when people who are significantly overweight wear clothes that are too small for them showing their overhanging bellies and their butt cheeks/cracks. (FYI, This is not a slam against overweight people but just a point on how people dress)

I personally would prefer my law enforcement agency to spend time solving thefts and murders vs issuing tickets to someone for the way they dress. JMHO.

Stop blaming the police department for everyting that happens and get involved by reporting the problems. The statement I heard for 43 years was "I don't want to be involved" and that is one of the main problems today. If you fear for your self or your family, get your home armed and use it. Remember, "It is better to be tried by 12 than carried by 6".

1

tduncanspradley 1 year, 9 months ago

i get involved and i do report things in my neighborhood. but what do i get two scary cops or a cop who have the slightest idea what the laws are

0

Racc 1 year, 9 months ago

I know this is off topic, but last night on the news I saw where even the famous black folks are saying that Obumma is not the first real black prez, he is the first real mixed race prez!!! And they are right, he is not all black he is only half black and the other half white. I wonder how that makes his blind followers feel??

0

Progressive 1 year, 9 months ago

It is still amazing to read the various opinions about sagging pants. It is offensive and makes the wearer look uneducated and undisciplined. Maybe ticketing is not the end all approach. But neither is looking the other way and taking a passive attitude of that's just the way kids dress. Parents need to teach their kids to take pride in the way they dress and act and conduct themselve in public. Self-pride and discipline is lacking in many of our young people today. Where are these kids going to get this example from in this community? And when will the real ADULTS start taking steps to make these improvements. Some leave it up to the Police. Some make jokes about it, And some still care about how their community looks and acts!

1

erudite 1 year, 9 months ago

I remain confused. Many squawkers want small government- no healthcare involvement, no major gun control, no increases in gov't assistance, no new taxes- yet they want the government to control what we wear.

What is next, a return to allowing testimony regarding clothing in rape trials? I fear this may be a doorway to the past where women were blamed for being raped because of their clothes.

It all boils down to perception; if you are offended by baggy pants, tell them so. Don't let you or your kids wear them. If you think "she's asking for it", think about why we teach females to avoid rape but don't teach males to keep their power in check.

Give it up.....be like me, go home, get comfy, my particular choice is in my lovely bed, where I am surrounded by my goodies, my remote is nearby, I can watch a movie on Netflix, my laptop is here and I can sit and read the Squawks and be happy...enjoy life....grab a cup of tea or coffee (or your beverage of choice) and have a laugh or a smile. I don't think the Rapture is coming soon. Sorry....

Geez, let the dumbn_ts wear them down to their ankles; we let 99 % of females wear clothes that dont even come close to covering their privates, and call it 'fashion'. We are becoming a nation of idiots and buffoons, obsessed with our sexuality and our appearance and our iphones. Who has time for mundane stuff, like law and order, education and such?

3

nowinalabama 1 year, 9 months ago

Saggy pants. I think everyone should yell out at these dumb-dumbs and tell them to pull their pants up. As far as the President conversation: Obama is not 100% black race. He is half white and half African. His idea of running a country has put us in a bad situation. If people actually votes him back in, them get ready for dooms day. Get your life in order, cause the end will come soon.

0

erock 1 year, 9 months ago

when they run from the police, the pants will wind up around their ankles causing them to do a face plant on the pavement. If they want to run, they've got to hold their pants up with their hands. This inevidently means good news for the police because it ties their hands up making it less likely that they will turn and take a shot at them. They are their own worst enemy.

0

PatrickY2K 1 year, 9 months ago

Really? Another squawk about baggy pants?

0

GG126 1 year, 9 months ago

Equally offensive are females wearing extremely low-cut, too small tops with no support. Also wearing low cut, too small jeans, shorts and skirts. Just because you have tatoos on your upper and lower body, the public does not want to see them. At least the saggy pants are worn by young men and there are no body parts revealed, only unsightly boxers. There is nothing attractive or appealing about seeing young and especially a near middle-aged female walking in the mall showing her body parts.

When is Barry Soto speaking at the NAACP convention? Oh yeah.......he didn't have time to make it due to a scheduling conflict. Which means that he already knows they're going to vote for him anyway, so why bother wasting time going there? He's going to send that dumas Joe Biden to speak instead. Look, if it really offends you, leave the store or area. If enough business departs from an area over the clothes issue, something will be done about it. Stores will post signs, No Shirt, No shoes, Sagging Pants No Service. The reality is some of them do it because they know how certain people react to it. Just ignore them, and they won't get their satisfaction.
