Navy Seaman Timothy J. Husted, son of Melinda C. Husted and Timothy A. Husted Jr., both of Albany, was recently promoted to his current rank upon graduation from recruit training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.
Marine Corps Master Sgt. Wayne W. Maxwell, whose wife, Lorena, is the daughter of David A. Bailey, of Albany, recently reported for duty with Marine Air Control 18, 1st Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Corps Air Station, Futenma, Japan.
Navy Petty Officer 1st Class Keith L. Hanks, brother of Nathan Hanks of Albany, along with fellow sailors aboard the guided missile destroyer USS Farragut (DDG 99), departed for a scheduled deployment in support of maritime security operations and build on maritime partnerships.
Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Joseph Cornell, whose wife, Brenda, is the daughter of Debra and Ted Johns of Albany, was recently awarded the Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal for his professional achievement while serving as Pharmacy Technician, Naval Branch Health Clinic Albany.
Cornell consolidated medication inventories which reduced expiration losses resulting in a cost avoidance of more than $400, 000. He trained 80 students and six hospital corpsmen which led to improved pharmacy operations contributing to full accreditation during the joint commission survey and 100 percent compliance with the Navy Medicine Inspector General's inspection.
Navy Seaman Whitney L. Metcalf, daughter of Linda D. and Dennie L. Metcalf of Ashburn, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill. Metcalf is a 2006 graduate of Turner County High School.
Marine Corps Pvt. Garrett M. Griffin, son of Andrea D. Davis and Leonard W. Griffin, both of Fitzgerald, recently completed 12 weeks of basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S. C.
