91-year-old woman's residence burglarized

Albany Police Department Cpl. Tyrone Griffin escorts a juvenile in custody to a waiting patrol car. The juvenile was one of three placed in custody at about 1 p.m. Tuesday in connection with a Monday burglary of a 91-year-old woman’s residence.

ALBANY, Ga. -- Patrol and unmarked cars boxed in three juveniles on the 600 block of South Shadowlawn Drive at Lincoln Avenue as officers put them in handcuffs after 1 p.m. Tuesday.

The three juveniles were reportedly burglars who victimized a 91-year-old woman by stealing her flat-screen television, two purses with about $30 in cash and her medication in them, along with her 2001 Mercury Marquis from her 1400 Jones Avenue residence.

The thieves broke into the house through a side door after the woman had retired at about 9 p.m. Less than 17 hours later and less than a mile away, the suspects were cuffed and in custody.

Because they are juveniles the police did not disclose their names. Police continue to search for the vehicle.

Gee I hope the poor boys didn't trip and hit their heads on the police car as they were getting in to the back seat. That would be terrible if they did, huh? Such a terrible thing to happen to the boys when they were just finished breaking in to the elderly woman's house and then stealing her purses and money AND medicines...that they felt they could sell on the street. Reminds me of the time someone tried to break in on my elderly mother. She had a chain lock on her door and she was getting ready to retire for the night and had the lights out. She heard noise and saw a hand coming thru the space between the door and the length of the chain and the fool was actually going to try to slide the chain thru the lock to open it. She kept an ice pick nearby (her weapon of choice she saw on some TV show) and slammed her whole weight against the door and locked his hand in the door at the wrist and man did he scream and then to add insult to injury she stabbed right thru the top of his hand with her ice pick..!!!!...talk about screaming then....he woke up the whole neighborhood. And to add insult to injury...the fool then tried to SUE HER for assault and battery....hahaahahaha.......go figure. Don't mess with little old Pennsylvania Dutch grannies..........I think I inherited her mean gene.

Where is the outrage from our Black Leadership?

Preachers should be leading the outrage that Their youth are robbing the elderly in saggy pants no less. Rally around your poor little “chillren” and throw your elderly to the PUNKS, they aren’t even man enough to be called a thug wanna-bes.

This should be the DA's time to show us he will put teeth into crime fighting and the judges time to show us he will do more than slap them on wrist.

The police catch them and their job is over- after that it is up to the da and the judge.

Sister Ruby-- I checked out this video and was NOT SHOCKED!!!! This seems to be indicative of the black community as a whole. Where is the outrage by the Jackson morons, where is the outrage by the J'ville black leaders. It is because it is not a white on black crime but a black on white crime. This is just JUngle Bunny behaviour, but I would digress that true african americans would be shocked, since in africa they would be killed for this type of behaviour. NOW it will happen in ALBANY before the summer is through.

What ya wanna bet they were remanded to the custody of their parent(s) and I think there is more to the story than was put in the paper. They will probably get a smack on the wrist. I am just too much of a skeptic and there is too much that isn't written...sorry. I would like the FULL story to be printed. I have too many questions yet to be asked. That is my problem with these stories.....not enough information.

1400 block of Jones Ave, huh??? I grew up on that block in the '60's & early '70's. I don't live in Albany anymore but have rental property there. It is so sad to see that the principles of fairness, peace, and freedom I and others demonstrated for back then are being abused or totally forgotten in these days of crime and thuggery..... Regardless of color, race, ethnicity, for God sake people, behave yourselves...And if you can't, will the judicial system please remove them from society so that we can enjoy our community...
