Price: Funding freeze proof change is needed

Lane Price

Lane Price

ALBANY, Ga. — Dougherty County School Board at-large candidate Lane Price, who is running against incumbent Anita Williams-Brown, issued the following statement late Thursday in regard to the Georgia Department of Education’s decision to withold federal funding to the DCSS until the system provides documentation in regard to questionable Title I expenditures:

“The announcement by the State Board of Education that funding for the Dougherty County School System will be held pending our system meeting compliance is solid proof that change is necessary.

“These monies provide financial assistance to schools with high percentages of children from low-income families and are granted to help ensure that all children can meet today’s challenging academic standards. They are essential for our children and schools to function.

“This is an outrage and an embarrassment. The time is now for the citizens of this town to take back control of our education system — to ensure a future for our children and for the future of this city. We can no longer continue down this path of substandard behavior and inefficiencies.

“As the At-Large member of our Board of Education, I will hold our administration accountable to ensure the best education and futures for our children.”

“These monies provide financial assistance to schools with high percentages of children from low-income families . . . " exactly and the current controlling element cares not an iota for them. “This is an outrage and an embarrassment." AMEN AND AMEN!

I understand Dr Price lives in district 1, if this is true and she is so sincere about helping children why didn't she run in that district instead of the at large seat? Amen!

Why would this matter? The positive about this is that she is willing to run against the corruption that is running out of control, and she wants to fix it. We should all vote to support her. The fact is that this School Board has tarnished this community and changes need to be made. Continuing to support anyone up for re-election on this Board sends a clear message you are not concerned with the children's education, and you are not in favor of holding the reps accountable for their bad decisions.

Because, Dr. Price would not have won. She still may not win.

At-Large, means all...do you really think Wiiliams-Brown has everyone's best interest in mind? Her statements provide an answer to that question. Why does Wms-Brown always play the victim? Answer: it's gotta be someone else's fault so let's blame everything on the Hispanics, Latinos, Indians, Asians, and White folk. Have you noticed she doesn't quite step over the "race" line but backs right up to it. Doesn't have the gonads to state exactly how she feels only eludes to things to get the masses in an uproar. It's called manipulation of all people. Get the people angered and they will stay down otherwise you will become just another person in the crowd.
