ALBANY -- Mr. Fred Freeney, Sr., died Sunday, July 22, 2012 at Wynfield Park Nursing and Rehabilitation.

His funeral service will be Tuesday 11 AM at Porterfield Memorial United Methodist Church with interment in Crown Hill Cemetery. Rev. Leigh Ann Raynor and Rev. William Collins will officiate.

A native of Macon, Mr. Freeney had lived in Albany since 1962 and was retired from Royal Petroleum Company. He graduated from Lanier High School where he was in the ROTC and was also a graduate of Mercer University. He was a member of Porterfield Memorial United Methodist Church the Key Sunday School Class, American Legion, and the Elks Lodge.

Mr. Freeney was active with SOWEGA Council on Aging performing numerous logistical task, as well as their Meals on Wheels program. He trained for chronic disease self-management with the SOWEGA Council on Aging.

He was a devoted husband, loving and devoted father and grandfather, and he was blessed with many friends far and wide.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Bannister Freeney, Albany; children, Fred "Freddie" Freeney, Jr. and wife, Danna, Peachtree City, Leslie Freeney Kim and husband, Yong, Duluth, Connie Freeney Skripko and husband, Mike, Smyrna; grandchildren, Chip Freeney, Brad Freeney, Alex Freeney, Patrick Kim, Brett Kim, Kayla Kim, Gabrielle Skripko, Sabrina Skripko; brother, Doc Freeney and wife, Karen, Suwannee; mother-in-law, Laura Bittinger, Moultrie; brother-in-law, Lannie Bittinger and wife, Cindy, Lawrenceville; and several nieces and nephews.
