It is political correctness run amock. What other view did anyone think a truely relegious person that followed the Bible would have? Would you prefer he lie? I doubt there are very many individuals willing to express their beliefs for fear of these folks that consider themselves keepers of the politically correct statement. I just wish that it was more in the open, as a claim for benefits which I see it as, more so than a sanctioning of what is perceived as a relegious event.
Seems like the good Christian people running this town have turned lying into a sport! What happened to "do not bear false witness'?
Ok, the word is religious, not relegious. The statement is one of bigotry but yes, they have the right to it. And those who do not like their stance have every right to express that as well.
erudite, does a city have the right to ban a legal company from locating in their city? a couple of days ago the AJC had an article in where the mayor of Boston vowed to not let them open any stores in Boston. That doesn't sit well with me.
Don't know but I would guess a few re-districting and commercial/resident zoning law changes like the 50's here would do the trick and keep the 'undesireables' out of the neighborhood.
Believing in the Biblical definition of marriage (one man/one woman) is not bigotry. Your statement is bigoted.
did you miss the 'right to have beliefs' part? I don't have to like it; they, and you, have a right to your beliefs.
erudite, By definition a bigot is:
"'a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices; especially : one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance."
Because the CEO has an opinion based on his Christian belief you call him a bigot even though he did not spew hatred toward gays just a belief or opinion that same sex marriage is wrong.
If you take the first part of that definition then that makes you a bigot because you are obstinate and intolerate of his views.
Being of a different opinion from someone does not make you a bigot or a hater.
I did not call him a bigot; I wrote that the statement was one of bigotry. Huge difference. I am tolerant of his views; if you read more closely, you will read that I wrote that views are rights.
I fully support Chick-fil-a and their corporate stance on traditional marriage. "Eat mor chickin'"!
I too fully support Chick-fil-a
They have the best chicken nuggets and their Hand Spun Chocolate Milk Shakes are to die for! I'll still go there!
Everything they have is good, no way I'll stop going there, and you're right SDF their chocalate shakes are good.
The real peach milkshakes & spicy chicken sandwich are very good too.
You name says it all: with whom is Gabriel engaged in this behavior?
Amen! Read your Bible and see God's stance. Chick Fil A is the most Christian fast food place in America. And God has blessed them with a great business. As I have aged I have learned a vast lesson. God is in control, whether you believe it or not. The earlier you learn it, the less problems you will have in life. I believe that someone who goes with the same sex, certainly has that right, but I do not have to practice beliefs just because some politician says so. Until this country returns to the fear of God, we are doomed. And the first to go will be the politicians.
I agree with you 100% but I am afraid that we are so far down the path of destruction that it is too late to turn back.
So God likes Chick Fil A? Funny but I don't remember that part...
There is a period after God's stance, so you need to put on your glasses. The Bible is God's stance and he is watching your sarchasm. Wake up before it is too late or you are a part of the problem.
I will be going to chik fil next Wednesday to support their decision. I have deleted several gay fb friends...not because they are gay but I got tired of their political rhetoric of "I am right and you are a homophobe because you don't support gay marriage." What you do in your bedroom is YOUR business. Trying to shove your beliefs down my throat is my business. Yes, i will be at Chick Fil A for breakfast, lunch and dinner on August 1st to stand with Chick Fil A for their refusal to bend and change their beliefs....
Completely support them.
People believe in freedom of speech until they disagree with their "speech".
Being gay is your business...freedom of speech is mine.
"shoving your beliefs down my throat" is either a poor choice of words or a great pun...
God didn.t much care for adulters but they can get elected to public office. Jeasus didn't like the wealthy but some of you are going to vote for one to be president. Gays and shellfish eaters are in the same boat in the Bible... Or are you allowed to chose which ones to hate? Just sayin...
Why do you people keep throwing the word hate out there. Do not put words in our mouths. No one said we hate gay people. As Christians we are to love the sinner, hate the sin. It doesn't mean we have to agree with it and accept the behavior, but as children of God we do love that person. But we will not bend our beliefs just to satisfy the "popular" things going on in the world. You are free to voice your opinion. Just because I choose to have a different one, doesn't make me a hater.
You know how that goes "You're either with them or against them" If you don't agree with them, you're a hater. Just like Tiger Woods, most people that don't like him is because of his tempermental attitude he displays or because of that incident with his wife, but people will call you a hater and say you don't like him because he is black. Remember that saying "If you're not with us, you're against us."
Jimboob, when's the last time somebody asked you if you "support" greed, or adultery, or coveting your neighbor's house? What would your answer be if they did?
Jimboob you need to get it right. God did not care for the act of Adultery but he still loved the person committing the sin. Jesus had no problem with the wealthy as long as they were not more in love with their money than with God and even then he still loved the person. Finally, Christians do not hate gays just because they do not agree with their lifestyle.
When was the last time you voted for a middle-class President? Why is everyone hung up on Romney's money? Jesus didn't not like wealthy, he didn't like what the wealthy did with the money, and how they treated others who weren't rich. They thought they were responsible for the wealth, not God. God didn't say it was a sin to be wealthy. He wants us to prosper, just as any father would want their children to prosper. It is what you do with that wealth. Romney acknowledges God's hand in his prosperity... he pays his tithes.
As a Christian, I don't hate anyone. I believe homosexuality is a sin. Now, I know I have sinned myself at some point in my life. I wouldn't want anyone to hate me for my sins anymore than those who are gay want to be hated for their sins. But as a Christian I cannot condone a "marriage" for gay couples. You can have any type of "legal agreement" or "union" you want. If you want to pay for insurance, leave all your worldly possesions behind to your partner, then go ahead. But don't ask Christians to acknowledge a same-sex marriage santified by God, when God defines a marriage as one man and one woman.
God doesn't define marriage as anything. Now, the primitive men in the bronze age who wrote the bible had some opinions on the matter, but they also believed the world was flat.
I could get married in the court house by a judge and the word God would not be mentioned.
Jimboob, do you know where in the bible is says not to eat shellfish? I'd like to read it, I've been eating shellfish all my life. When we were kids our parents use to take us to the east coast aound Cape Canaveral & we would load up on oysters & spend all the next day shucking oysters.
Thank you. I'll have to read it tonight.
Keep looking; nothing with cloven hoof, or that walks in its own excrement.
The levitical restrictions on food were lifted in Acts 10:10-15. Not so for sodomy. It is still an abomination.
sodomy is not limited to gay men; and does this mean lesbians are OK?
Nothing like taking a passage from the bible out of context. You say look at Matthew 19:24 as proof Jesus hated the wealthy but you need to read Matthew 19:16-26. The entire story relates to a wealthy young ruler who was unwilling to give up his possessions. In other words, he loved money and material goods more than anything else and was unwilling to part with them.
This is so not true. His best friends Mary, Lazarus and Martha were wealthy and he loved them. Mary anointed Jesus' feet with oil that only the wealthy could afford. He also chastened the man who buried his gold and did not use it to make more. If it is presidential candidate's talent to make money, then who are we to judge because he has made more money than you. And if that is his only fault, so be it.
Way to go Chick-Fil-A.....I totally support you!!!!!
Why does Christianity get to call the shots? What if another religion does not categorize the behavior as a sin; what then? Would I be able to open a shop/church devoted to Satanism? In order to believe in Satan, one must believe in god(s) so isn't Satanism just another sect? Would people support my freedom of religion and speech then?
My preacher says Mormonism is a cult...
All religions are a cult or a gang, depends on which defintion you use. Special colors, rites and rituals, special language, special meeting places, and special clothing. Yup, that's a cult.
Because the majority of voters are Christian, or at least try to adhere to the basic tenets of the Christian faith?
So, is that not the same thing? Making everyone adhere to Christian doctrine? The tenets of the Christian faith are the same as those of Islam and Judaism. I'm not sure Jesus says anything about gays; of course, he did hang around with guys most of the time and, according to the New Testament, a hooker. There are 632 admonitions for heterosexual sex in the book and only 6 about same sex; seems like being gay was OK.
No, what it means is being gay wasn't the norm back then. It says something about the slow decline of society that being gay is so prevalent nowdays. It's the cool thing now with the younger school-aged kids to "experiment" with same sex relationships, just as much as it is the cool thing to get pregnant in middle or high school. We are accepting more and more as the new normal, until one day God decides he has had enough of it and does something about it. Until then, all we as Christians can do is continue to fight for what we believe in and not let others tell us we are wrong to believe what we believe. We will continue to pray for ourselves, our fellow believers, our world, our government and you, the non-believer until that happens.
Being gay was the norm, just nobody cared what you did in your own bedroom. Sexual behavior has come to the fore as the US moves to the Right. In most other countries, your sexual preference is YOURS, and as long as your partner is willing, NOT YOUR BUSINESS.
You are not WRONG to believe what you believe; you are WRONG to make others believe it.
No...he is telling those who profess to being Christian to act like it....
Unfortunately, since Eve bit the forbidden fruit, we as human beings will sin. Our job as Christians is to try our hardest to live the life God wants us to live, in his image. But our human nature prevails sometimes, and sin happens. God knows this about our human nature and yet, he still loves us. You are right that there are those who proclaim to be Christians that don't live the way they should, that don't really even try, and they give the rest of us a bad name. Take Westboro Baptist Church, for example. I would NEVER want to be compared to them. The difference, in my opinion (and thankfully I am allowed one), is that being gay is a sin, just like lieing, gossiping, etc. but it is one of choice. Gay people believe they are gay and will continue to be gay and will not ask for forgiveness for that. Christians do sin, but we repent of our sins and try very hard not to repeat the pattern again. But in the end, God loves us all and we as Christians should love our neighbor, regardless of their sins. Love the sinner, hate the sin. It is not our place to judge. Only ONE can do that in the end. But we should be undeterred in our beliefs.
Was that her sin or not listening the sin?
You are already allowed to do that. What world do you live in?
Do you think I should get a business license or should I be considered a church and forego paying taxes?
you should get whatever tax benefits all of the other satan worshipping "religions" get that already exist in the U.S. You just make yourself look silly when you pretend that it is illegal. You and I both know that you know that it is not. Grow up a little and quit trying to get attention by purposefully starting arguments.
What? Where did I imply illegality? I am just curious how many squawkers who are claiming freedom of speech and belief would support my choice.
Why am I the one starting arguments? Why don't other posts start arguments? If it were not for the other posts, I would not be here.
The Bible also says that if you find out your bride is not a virgin on your wedding night, you are to stone her to death on her father's doorstep. Why are no Christians advocating this? It's just as biblical as being against homosexuality. Actually, the Bible advocates death for a lot of transgressions. And while we're at it, why doesn't god heal amputees? Why is the answer to an amputee's prayer for restoration ALWAYS no? Because god is imaginary.
God is imaginary? So you believe in the evolution theory that we all evolved from a single cell organism? That we exist by chance only? Where did the single cell organism come from? Where did the material that make up the stars and planets come from? How can you look at the complexities of our galaxy, our bodies, the environment and how everything functions just perfectly and believe that God is imaginary?
Science has done a pretty good job of answering your questions and answers more of them everyday. One only needs to read the bible and take note of the factual errors and the absurd claims and the words of Jesus that are clearly false. The bible was written by primitive men in the bronze age and it is clear when you read it.
Actually, science has proven portions of the Bible (and it is with a capital "B")
Yes, some historical things, which isn't surprising as it was written by actual humans. You seem to be glossing over that fact that science has utterly disproven many, many things in the bible.
Actually science has not proven anything. They have theories and speculation about evolution and how the world was created. As far as the Bible there have been numerous naysayers that have made it their mission to prove the Bible and Jesus were false and ended up becoming believers based on the overwhelming evidence they found to support that God does indeed exist and that Jesus did rise from the dead.
Really? Name one.
C. S. Lewis
Natural scientific methods cannot be used to measure supernatural things. Super natural by its very nature is OUTSIDE nature. Natural scientific laws/methods do support much of the biblical geographical locations; however, divinity cannot be proved or disproved because it is not natural. Is there hard evidence of a flood in that area, yes; can it be proven that any divinity was used to cause it, no.
Is there evidence for a worldwide flood that killed every living thing other than a 900-year-old man and his family and the animals he took with him on his giant boat? No. Not remotely.
Nope, just evidence of high water marks.
Ok, so, of what are gods made?
God is not imaginary. He always answer's prayers. It just may not be the answer we want it in the time we want it. And sometimes we ask for the wrong thing. As for amputee's...they will be restored in the resurrection. Sometimes we are given afflictions for our own personal growth and learning...
Why must amputees wait for the resurrection? Why does god treat them differently? It's because healing them is impossible and the answer to impossible prayers is always no. How about healing Down's Syndrome? The answer is always no. Futhermore, read Matthew 17:20, Matthew 21:21, Mark 11:24, John 14:14, James 5:15. Nowhere does it say that some things must wait for the resurrection. In fact, those verses are VERY clear and unambiguous. And clearly false, by the way.
We ALL must wait for the resurrection to be perfected....If you re-read my post I didn't deny that God says "No"..He is the one that knows what is best for us. And for us to doubt his decision is arrogant, and totally lacking the faith that you pointed out in everyone of those verses. Christ had the power to take Himself off of the cross, and he still said "Thy will be done". If it takes restoring an amputee's arm or healing Down's Syndrome for you to acknowledge God exists, then you are on the wrong page. Many ask where is God or why he let something happen, when we feel that the afflictions were are given are too much to bear. We should be asking Him to help us bear the affliction. I am in no way saying these or other things happen as a punishment...they are not punishments. But God doesn't give anyone anything that he thinks they cannot handle, nor does he make them handle it completely alone. We have to have the faith of a mustard seed to turn it over and say to Him "Thy will be done". We have to have complete faith in what HE wants for us, not what WE want.
That's great except that's not what the bible says. None of it. Jesus plainly states that anything you ask for in my father's name I will do. Additionally, you have yet to explain why with impossible prayers the answer is ALWAYS no. 100 percent. You have resorted to mental gymnastics to justify something in the bible being plainly false.
When you label a prayer as an "impossible prayer", seems to me you already expect the answer to be "No". Which tells me either you aren't praying for the right thing or you didn't have faith that your prayer was going to be answered.
Only God can tell you why the answer is "No". For me to tell you I do would be arrogant and my "mental gymnastics" as you put it are explanations of why I believe some prayers are answered with a "No". As for myself I have faith in God, and accept that some things just aren't meant to be "fixed" in this life...I choose to try my best to live this life with an eye on the eternal one ahead of me. I think if a person truly has faith in God, they are satisfied to wait until after this life is over to be fixed. Faith in him will get you through this short life, with the affliction you have, and you will have so much more in eternal life waiting for you after it has ended. To deny Him because He doesn't answer a prayer the way I want it is a sin that would remove my chance for eternal life.
As for the things you say in the Bible being plainly false...you have taken 1 verse out of a group of scriptures that deal with specific things. You can't take one verse out and say this proves that the Bible lies. The verses you listed are parts of a group of verses where Christ is telling the disciples that if they quit doubting themselves and have faith, they too can have the Power of God to perform healing just as he does.
It's not one verse. It's many. I am not an amputee. However, I think it is reasonalbe to think that there have been many who have prayed sincerely and faithfully for healing. And 100 percent of those prayers have been answered with a resounding no. The same for people with Down's Syndrome. The same with people with competely severed spinal cords. Any prayer for restoration and healing of those people is ALWAYS answered no. Despite what it says in the bible. Any answered prayer is merely coincidence. That's why the amputee illustration is so profound. It removes the ambiguity.
. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that Leviticus 18: 22 clearly states it to be an abomination. . . End of debate.I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some other elements of God's Laws and how to follow them.1. Leviticus 25: 44 states that I may possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians?2. I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus21: 7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her?3. I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanness - Lev. 15: 19-24. The problem is how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense.4. When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord - Lev. 1: 9. The problem is, my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?5. I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35: 2. clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself, or should I ask the police to do it?6. A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination - Lev. 11: 10, it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this? Are there degrees of abomination?7. Lev. 21: 20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle-room here?8. Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev. 19:27. How should they die? 9. I know from Lev. 11: 6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves. 10. My uncle has a farm. He violates Lev. 19: 19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? Lev.24: 10-16. Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair, like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Lev. 20: 14)
Be prepared for the good ole "the new testament is a new covenant that replaced the old law" nonsense. Of course, it doesn't say that in the new testament. In fact, it says the opposite. Furthermore, the 10 commandments are in the old testament and we all know how the bible thumpers love to post those 10 commandments everywhere.
This is unequivocally false. The commandments are also in the New Testament and the new covenant didn't replace the old law, it was just fulfilled by Jesus' sacrifice. Says it clear as day in the Bible.
Only one problem. Jesus said the opposite. Matthew 5:18-19, Luke 16:17.
Matthew 5:17: Jesus fulfilled the punishment of the old laws by sacrificing himself on the cross for our sins.
One verse out of a chapter or group of verses can't be solely interpreted. You have to look at what is going on around that verse...If you look at Luke 16:17, you need to look at the verse before it. It says..."The law and the prophets WERE until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it." In other words, John brought the new Gospel, and Christ fulfilled it...
billybob...you and I have been back and forth...if you don't believe the Bible or think God is imaginary, why do you bother? Those of us who truly believe the Bible and it's teachings, are not going to be swayed by your use of Bible verses and your unbelief. And anyone's inability to "prove" it for you, is not proof of your correctness. It is proof that you are going to refuse to believe.
Congrats. You can copy and paste. I've seen this garbage elsewhere. Come up with something original.
An very good. Since you can't refute it, just critique its originality. I'd much rather read a rational repsonse/refutation.
Just refuted it above. Fulfillment of the old law through Jesus' sacrifice did away with those laws you brought up. I bet you already knew that and yet you still posted that clever copy and paste. Anything else?
Well then, was not the law about sexuality fulfilled too? Or are you admitting to picking and choosing what you want on your plate?
Nope, it's condemned in both the old and new. Not picking and choosing. Just telling you what the Bible says.
Then tell us what Jesus says in Matthew 5:18-19 and Luke 16:17. It contradicts your previous post.
Exactly what the scripture says. "Until everything is accomplished," meaning Jesus' death on the cross fulfilled the old law.
But you're adding your interpretation to the last part.
I actually think it's pretty clear, and so do many other scholars of the Bible, but you're welcome to disagree.
First, you need to credit the original compiler of these scriptures. Several months ago I brought up this very point here and was accused of cafeteria religion. Seems to me that selecting and following ALL of what is in the books is NOT cafeteria religion. I would have to say if the argument against homosexuality are the 6 scriptures, then all of these have to be followed and I will have to kill my neigbor for working on the sabbath.
God IS NOT IMAGINARY!!!
Can you point her out to me?
Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted,
—2 Timothy 3:12
well, damn, i don't want to be perscuted...screw christianity then.
Billybob - If you are or were employed, did you always get what you demanded from your boss? God (with a capital "G") is always in total control. Just like someone else stated, it may not be what you ask for or want, but He is in control. If you were a boss, or military commander, how would you react to one of your workers or soldiers making demands on you that you knew could not be fullfilled? Not quite the same as having faith in God, but the principle is the same. You must have faith in God, and He can heal your hurting heart.
First, your analogy is terrible. What evidence do you have for any god's existence much less the god of the Christian bible? Why do you reject the Hindu gods or the Krishna version of god or the Norse gods or the Abrahamic god as worshipped in Islam?
Just the kind of response expected from a shallow thinker. The simple analogy is one of you do not always get what you ask for from those superior to you. The more complex analogy is to have faith for acquiring more to life than what you think you need. If these other religion gods called by another name are the same as my God then I do not reject them. But if they are man made gods, then I clearly reject them being Lord of my life. The very existence of this massive universe should be proof enough for anyone to know there is a superior God that we should have faith in. May God heal your hurting heart.
My heart is not hurting, but thanks for the sentiment anyway. Why would the existence of the universe be evidence for a god? That is a very simplistic way of viewing the world around you: I don't understand it, therefore it's god. All of the worlds religions have man-made gods. Who do you think wrote the bible? It was primitive men. That's why it is full of errors and non-scientific nonsense. Think about it. A woman got talked into eating from a tree by a snake so this creator god had to sacrifice himself to himself so the bad humans could live forever? Just wow.
The most often misquoted bible verse.
Judge Not Lest Ye Be Judged!
By: John Duncan
Another good one.
New King James Version (NKJV)
(24) Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, (25) who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
(26) For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. (27) Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.
(28) And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; (29) being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality,[a] wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, (30) backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, (31) undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving,[b] unmerciful; (32) who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.
I don't have black friends, brown friends, white friends, gay friends, straight friends or friends who are Jews, no I have friends they have their beliefs and I have mine.
First of all, Jimboob, your name says it all, just a boob. No one is going to convince our doubting Thomas of anything. Can't save 'em all, folks! I, for one, will quit trying. Carry on Mr. Boob......
Ahh. Classic. When defeated by logic and intellect, go to the name-calling.
Like you insulting an entire religion b/c you don't agree with it? Hypocrisy much?
Like you insulting an entire religion because you don't agree with it? Hypocrisy much?
1 Corinthians 6:9-11
New King James Version (NKJV)
(9) Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals,[a] nor sodomites, (10) nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. (11) And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.
II Chronicles 7:14
if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
What do the other versions profess?
King James the pedophile or King James who may have had sex with his mother? I do believe in a higher power but to confuse Jesus with God is crazy.....actually some people that the story of religion has its origin in the Egyptian story of Isis and Osiris and that Moses was actually the pharaoh Akenhaten who was banished for closing the temples and worshipping monotheistic god...he then came back and 'delivered' his people out of Egypt...sound Familiar? Jews maybe?
Gays can eat what they want but give me two chicken sandwiches bought with a BOGO coupon and a senior tea any day of the week. The company does not waiver from its values and will not change its stance just to make more money. It hires and trains young workers who are most customer friendly folks you will find in any city--and gives many scholarships in return. It refuses to operate on Sunday so that workers can be off and forgoes a chance to enhance profits by doing so.
If one cannot agree with the company and its values, then "Welcome to McDonalds" may be a good fit for your eating habits.
I actually saw on the news a McDonalds marqee said they support Chick-Fil-A and invited the public to try and ban them also.
To the unbelievers:Just for the sake of argument. What if ,like John Lennon once said, there was " no hell below us ,above us only sky" and we still abided by the priciples Jesus taught in the new testament , would'nt we all be better off ? Those of us who sin only bring pain and hardship on ourselves. But it is our free will to do what we want. To often we just want what is bad for us. God help us.
Belief in god causes some people to abandon reason and intellect.
Do you think homosexuals are acting on reason and intellect?
Thanks Dan Cathy for standing your Christian ground! Thanks for loving God and your fellow man. Thanks for speaking the truth, even in the light of criticism. I'll be eating Chick-Fil-A sandwiches on Wednesday.
I like Chick Fil A's service, they hire the best people to work for them. If they don't meet the companies expectation of excellent service they get let go quickly. I don't know how their system works personally for scholarships but they pay for some of their employees college education from what I've read. Now that's a good company that will do that. They are a family owned private company, no shareholders to answer to, closed on Sunday for the sabbath so their employees can go to church if they choose.
This country's getting pretty close to the Orwell's vision in 1984 of a totally repressive society where only the "approved opinions" are dared to be spoken. Will this Constitution survive FOUR MORE YEARS OF EMPEROR OBAMA??? I fear the answer.............
If it survived 8 years of massa Reagan I'm sure it can....
I'm not sure that anyone has written here that CFA is not entitled its opinion.
I do not believe CFA checks preference at hire; if they do that, then they are breaking the law.
Anyone and everyone has the right to use CFA or not. Free market (kind of), free choice (kind of)...go wherever you want.
I am going straight to CHICK-FIL-A in the morning to support them even more!
I like Chick-Fil-A and eat there often. I'm sorry they quit carrying the lemon pie. I'm not gay so I really don't have a dog in the fight. I just feel that it's not in the American Sprit to deny a group of people rights that others have because of their sexual orientation any more than on the color of their skin.
Oh my gosh, a company that closes on Sundays and has been based on family values since its founding opposes homo marriage!!! Who knew! Let's all blow this out of proportion and get our underpanties in a wad. Sorry, if you ate at CFA before this and are all of a sudden shocked by Mr. Cathy's comments, then you should be banned from the establishment for lack of intellect anyway.
They have the right to enjoy the same legal benefits as a heterosexual couple. It's just not a marriage. Who should have the right to change the definition of marriage?
And that ,in a nutshell is what is wrong with this country.
How's that? The legislature are the elected representatives of the people. If the people want to change something they can.
The elected representatives are not acting in the best interest of the country, they are bowing to special interest groups such as... gay activists.
Who says it's not in the best interest of the country? You and your magic book with the talking snake, the talking donkey, the talking vegetation?
Okay, lets take the bible out of the conversation. By what standards do you live by? If it feels good to you ,do it , no matter what the consequences to yourself or those around you ? In a civilized society,if your actions are not for the benefit of all, maybe you should just keep them to yourself.
Dan Cathy said nothing about their rights. There is absolutely no evidence that he or his company treat gays any differently. He expressed his personal opinion. It happens to be mine as well. Where's the tolerance for his opinion?
Now that is true.....I see no reason to be mad at Mr Cathy....he opposes gay marriage not gay married people or gay single people eating at Chick Fil A....
Damn! This is the best post/blog I have read on the Herald's website and I missed it. This was great! Every last post.
You're welcome :)
I love CFA and will be eating there more frequently now. They have great customer service and food!!
