Get in motion toward your dreams

Get active.

A lesson that continues to inspire me is one that comes by way of author Patricia Madson who wrote, "Just show up. Move your body toward your dreams wherever they are happening. Be there."

I found this maxim to be incredibly powerful because it is a call to action. Moving forward plus deciding what you want is part of a formula that equals good things happening in your life. The moving toward part is the evidence that you believe that you can have what it is that you want, and it must be present in order to accomplish anything.

Oprah Winfrey put it this way: "You don't become what you want, you become what you believe." What I have said often is that we are empowered by our ability to believe that we are worthy of our greatest dreams. The common denominator is belief.

If we were to examine where we are and what we are doing, we would discover what we believe. Wanting to do something or accomplish a particular goal requires us to move, to become active around those things. We cannot become active until we believe that we can accomplish the task.

If you are standing still or sitting on your ideas, talents or gifts, then you might want to figure out what is hindering your belief in yourself. Is it fear? Is it procrastination? Is it other people's opinions? Is it your own self-doubt? Maybe it is some combination, but I know what it is like to deal with each of these, and what I have learned is that you have to decide to choose to move.

Fear, procrastination, other people's opinions or self-doubt can only weigh you down if you are sitting down or standing still. You may encounter these issues along the way, but it is so much more difficult to hit a moving target. I have experienced times when I have had to crawl with all those issues on my back, but I was still moving.

The more you move, the easier it becomes to stay moving. You become stronger, and you even learn new ways of moving, new vehicles to propel you forward. This is important because getting to where you want to go will often require unconventional ways of moving. As Ms. Madson wrote, "... walk, run, crawl, fly, bicycle; move in the direction of your purpose."

What is your purpose? What do you want? Do you believe it is possible for you? The answer to these questions is not found in what we say; it is only in what we do.

When we get active around our hopes and dreams, we make a declaration of our belief in ourselves. By becoming active, we signal to the universe that we believe we deserve our greatest dreams, or that we are ready to live in purpose. Move yourself in the physical place you need to be to bring forth what you want to accomplish. No matter what it is, determine where you need to be to start and get there.
