ALBANY -- Louis A. Holton, 53, 113 Marigold Drive, Americus, GA, passed away on June 26, 2012, at the Wilson Hospice House in Albany, GA. He was the son of Norma L. Holton and the late Charles Wesley Holton. A private service was held Monday, June 30, 2012.

Mr. Holton was born on January 5, 1959, in Landstuhl, Germany, where his father served in the United States Air Force. His mother, a native of Germany, was employed by the 67th Medical Outfit in Einsiedlerhof, Germany. Mr. Holton attended Americus and Sumter County school systems and South Georgia Technical College. He owned and operated a mobile mechanic business providing services to customers in Americus and surrounding areas. He was a skilled mechanic, welder, carpenter and electrician. He served in the U.S. Marine reserves.

Mr. Holton resided the last year of his life in the Lillian Carter Nursing Center in Plains, Georgia, after becoming ill in August, 2011. He was an intelligent and interesting conversationalist and was also known for his humor and his entertaining personality. He was an avid reader. He had a great compassion for animals and spent most of his life providing a home for pets that he acquired. His dogs were a favorite topic of discussion and great source of joy for him.

Mr. Holton is survived by his mother, Norma L. Holton, Ellaville, Georgia, and aunts, uncles and cousins both in the United States and in Germany.
