APD: Wanted for gun assault at restaurant

ALBANY, Ga. — Frederick “Fred” D. Williams is wanted by the Albany Police Department for shooting at a man on April 19 at a Cordele Road Hot Dog King restaurant, a police report stated.

“Warrants for aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon have been issued against Williams,” said Phyllis Banks police spokeswoman.

Banks described Williams as 34 years old, standing about 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighing 205 pounds and having brown hair and eyes. Williams was seen driving a silver Mercedes Benz S500 with the tag number BWX8519.

According to police reports, Williams argued with 26-year-old Aretavis Washington in the restaurant at about 9:50 a.m. Williams left the restaurant and got what looked like a .40-caliber Glock semi-automatic handgun from the Mercedes’ trunk.

Apparently Williams stepped in front of Washington’s Dodge Ram pickup as Washington tried to flee. Washington tried to ram Williams, who fired at least three shots into the pickup.

Washington managed to drive away. There were no injuries reported. Williams should be considered armed and dangerous, the report added.
