ALBANY, Ga. — The Southwest Georgia Regional Art Show and Sale, presented by The Albany Area Arts Council, will hold its opening reception 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Flint RiverQuarium, 101 Pine Ave.
Carol Hetzler, executive director of the Arts Council, said the event is the largest art show in the area, featuring 66 artists and 128 works of art. The display will include work in the categories of painting, photography and sculpture.
“We’re proud to provide such an expansive exhibit to the community,” Hetzler said.
According to Hetzler, the Arts Council produces a program that showcases the artists work and will guide visitors through the exhibit and art work prices. Most of the work on display will be available for purchase.
Hetzler said the event will be judged by Kay Cromartie of Thomasville, Clare Pearson of Moultrie and Russell Grace of Tallahassee, Fla. Winning artists will also receive monetary awards for placing first, second or third in a category.
Hetzler said that art pieces will selected by a jury for the July Winner’s Circle exhibit at the Carnegie Library, home of the Albany Arts Council.
The exhibit, sponsored by Phoebe Community Visions, is free to the public and following the opening reception may be viewed during normal hours of the Flint RiverQuarium; Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Sundays 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. The exhibit will end June 21.
