Lawmakers' benefits get bipartisan support

Fringe Benefits for senators and representatives:

1 -- Tax deduction to maintain two residences;

2 -- Travel allowances for trips between home states and Washington;

3 -- Pay small fund for life and health insurance;

4 -- Pay small funds for an excellent retirement;

5 -- Free postage;

6 -- Receives funds to pay for staff workers;

7 -- Free printing and distribution of speeches and newsletters.

The total amount of fringe benefits is $250,000.

Congress passes the laws that provides for the fringe benefits and demonstrates clearly that the partisan Democrats and Republicans work together to pass laws to benefit only senators and representatives.

No kidding? Jeez I would have thought the Taxpayers would have paid better attention to Jefferson when he expressed the idea that the worst thing that could happen was to allow people to figure out they could make a good living off the backs of the voters. I don't know the exact quote, but it certainly shows to be true.
