ALBANY — John “Jay” L. Montgomery has been named president and CEO of SunTrust Bank, South Georgia.
In addition to overseeing SunTrust’s operations and community activities in Albany and across South Georgia, Montgomery has assumed the position of commercial relationship manager for South Georgia.
“Jay is a proven and experienced leader with a strong and extensive banking background who knows this region well,” said Kevin S. Blair, president and chief executive officer of SunTrust Bank, Georgia.
“Throughout his career, Jay has demonstrated the ability to grow the bank, and his commitment to the community will build upon the tradition that SunTrust has established in this important market.”
A 20-year banking veteran, Montgomery joined SunTrust in 2010 as a dealer services relationship manager.
Prior to joining SunTrust, he was associated with Regions Bank in Albany, and SouthTrust/Wachovia in Atlanta.
A native of Atlanta, Montgomery earned his bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Alabama.
He is a member of the Georgia Chamber of Commerce.
Montgomery and his wife, Wendy, have two children, and are members of Porterfield Methodist Church in Albany.
SunTrust Banks, Inc., headquartered in Atlanta, has total assets of $178.2 billion and total deposits of $130 billion.
The Company operates an extensive branch and ATM network throughout the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic states.
