James Carl Stewart, Sr.

CAMILLA -- Rev. James Carl Stewart, Sr., 90, of Camilla, died Monday, June 11, 2012 at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at First Baptist Church of Camilla with interment in Pinecrest Memory Gardens. Rev. Ron Shiver and Rev. Jamie Sanders will officiate.

Pallbearers will include the men of Lake Pleasant Baptist Church, where Mr. Stewart was ordained and pastor until his retirement. Before he was ordained, he was a lay minister for 30 years, serving many different churches throughout the area.

Born February 14, 1922 in Worth County, Mr. Stewart was the son of the late William O. and Eula Shiver Stewart. He graduated from Colquitt County High School and was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. He was a retired minister and businessman and former owner of Stewart Poultry. He was a member of Lake Pleasant Baptist Church and before becoming ordained he was a member of First Baptist Church of Camilla. He was also a member of American Legion Post 141 and Woodmen of the World, as well as a Mason and Shriner.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Beulah Turner Stewart of Camilla; his children, Carol Olmstead McGraw and husband, George, of Niceville, FL, Janice Hays and husband, Ray, of Camilla, Nancy Sanders and husband, J.B., of Newton, and Jimmy Stewart and wife, Donna, of Camilla, two sisters, Alise Drennon of Newton and Ruth Wright of Tallahassee, FL; seven grandchildren, Brett Olmstead and wife, Andrea, Josh Olmstead and wife, Kellie, Allen Thomas and wife, Stacie, Stuart Thomas and wife, Beth, Jamie Sanders and wife, Annette, Carla Beasley and husband, Brent, Kiley Henderson and husband, Kyle; twelve great grandchildren, Audrey Olmstead, Jake Olmstead, Annesleigh Salter, Carter Olmstead, Taylor Thomas, Turner Thomas, Tucker Thomas, Hudson Thomas, Ashley Sanders, Chelsea Sanders, Morgan Sanders, and Cole Henderson.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at Parker-Bramlett Funeral Home in Camilla.
