ALBANY — A 54-year-old man who had been wanted in connection to a theft by taking case was picked up by the Albany Police Department during the weekend, a spokeswoman for APD confirmed on Monday.
Artis Thomas of Albany was picked up at approximately 9 a.m. on Sunday at 2415 Dawson Road, Apt. N-2, after police received a tip regarding his location, spokeswoman Phyllis Banks said.
The APD had solicited the public’s assistance last week in locating Thomas, who was wanted in connection to a theft incident that took place at 9 p.m. on May 7 at 1615 E. Broad Ave., reports show.
Thomas, described as a black male who is 5-feet-8-inches tall and weighs 190 pounds, is suspected to have entered the location without permission and stolen money from his employer, McCollum Cleaners, police officials said.
Since the incident occurred, Thomas has called and threatened the victim several times, police said.
