ALBANY -- Ms. Doris Louise Clay, 83, made her transition on Monday, June 11,2012 at Palmyra Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 16,2012 at 3:00 PM in the sanctuary of New Zion Hill located at 200 Wells Avenue Albany, GA with burial to follow in Riverside Cemetery. Bishop O.D. Burton will be officiating.
Doris L. Clay was born July 13,1928 in Bronwood, GA. The daughter of The Late Henry Lee and Clara Mae Clay. Ms. Clay was preceded in death by her sister Nellie Clay Sims.
Cherishing the legacy of her earthly season are her daughters: Shirley (Willie) Dennard and Mary Ann (Jessie) Richardson both of Albany, GA; two granddaughters: Casquela (Gregory) Reed of Albany, GA and Shirley Monique Shorter of Greenville, SC; four grandsons: Clarence (Virginia) Robinson, Ernest (Lawonda) Peterson, Lawrence Robinson, and Vincent Robinson all of Albany, GA; two brothers: Robert (Ada Mae) Clay, Sr. of Albany, GA and Rev. John (Joann) Clay of Tampa, FL; one sister: Annie Clara (John) Taylor of Albany, GA. She also leaves to mourn eleven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. A host of cousins, relatives, and friends are left to remember her life.
The family will receive friends and family at the home of her daughter Shirley Dennard 2316 Pearce Avenue Albany, GA.
