ALBANY — Sophomores Chelsea Showers and Katy Jordan received All-America honors after a record-setting season.
The NJCAA announced recently that Showers, an outfielder, earned a Second-Team nod and Jordan, Darton’s ace, received Third-Team All-America honors for her second consecutive year.
Jordan recorded more than 50 wins and 500 strikeouts during her Darton career and finished the 2012 season as the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association MVP.
The past season was another stellar year for the Lady Cavs, who were 45-7 with a record-breaking 30 consecutive wins. Seven Darton student-athletes made the All-Conference team, including infielders Amanda Jaskolski, Kelsea Ogletree and Chantel Currinton, infielder Jessica Vasson, catcher Holly Smith, Showers and Jordan.
Darton head softball coach David Dews also received his fourth Region XVII Coach of the Year award.
“This is the best two-year run Darton softball has had,” Darton assistant softball coach Sam White said. “We had a sophomore class record of 95-18, a 30-game winning streak, two conference titles and a Region XVII Championship.”
