Allen campaign seeks to unseat Sanford Bishop

Rick Allen

ALBANY -- Republican U.S. House candidate Rick Allen told a local civic club Monday if he is elected he will fight to lower taxes, balance the budget and repeal the Affordable Care Act, which he referred to as ObamaCare.

According to Allen's campaign, the candidate also favors repeal of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform Act, enacted to create stability after the financial crisis in 2008.

The president of VitaRX in Columbus, a wholesale distributor of medical supplies, Allen said he's familiar with what it's like to fight high taxes and regulations.

"Government is too big," he said. "It's devouring us. Every day we're losing a little more economic opportunity and a little more freedom. We have a bloated government with too many regulations and too many taxes. Now they're trying to ram ObamaCare down our throats. Of course, that will make things much worse."

Allen said citizens should take the advice of doctors and people in the medical field and repeal what Allen called socialized medicine.

"I think a lot of this is a plan by the Socialists on the left to really cripple our country and take over the country," Allen said.

According to Allen as many as 6,000 new regulations were implemented in the pharmaceutical business this year, which have caused shortages in the industry.

"Regulations have caused all kinds of problems in all kinds of businesses around the country," he said. "And that's a big part of my campaign."

Allen said that if elected he would work to lower spending and therefore reduce the amount of money the nation borrows from China. He also said he would fight to reduce the national debt and to balance the budget.

"We are literally heading off a cliff," Allen said.

The candidate, who hopes to unseat Democrat Sanford Bishop from the 2nd Congressional District, also said the would reduce the country's corporate income tax rate to 9 percent, which he believes would help bring companies back from offshore. In addition, Allen said he would get rid of the tax code.

Allen said he favors school choice in the form of private schools, charter schools and school voucher plans, and he said he believes the federal government should not be involved in local school systems at all. Allen described himself as a constitutional conservative.

"I believe in the original vision of the founding fathers, which is a Judeo-Christian document," Allen said. "It should be looked at in those terms, and we need to get back to that."

Good luck with unseating Bishop! It was done in 2010 but when just enough ballots of South & East Albany to re-elect came through, guess what? That's right. It will happen again in 2012. Remember, you heard it here.....

Walt, Let's ask keown how to beat Bishop.

He will tell you, it ant going to happen. Bishop gets my vote! Riggins gets my vote, Obama gets my vote, and if Coach runs for something he gets my vote.

If Sister, mrkia, walt, bubbavet, lulu, albantax, vsu, and the rest of your rightwingers run for the boarder you get my vote.

Just kidding, playing with you. Please dont respond. the Real Deal.

Of late, you have been right. You aren't worth responding to. How you can support any individual in public office that has shown Bishops propencity for arrogance towards the public I will never know. I guess you are like some of my friends. They would sooner have a Black man stealing from them than a White. It's a pitty things have gotten to this, instead of what is best for the entire country.

I agree, it's a pity that people will not vote for what is right. They will shoot themselves in the foot one day. I love karma.

Rick is a good guy, as are the other Republican candidates. It will be interesting to see who shakes out of the primary elections. Whomever that person is; will have my enthusiastic support. Ridding ourselves of Sanford Bishop will be an incredibly formidable task, especially in light of the newly redrawn district lines, which were purposefully drawn to insure Bishop's reelection and avoid a repeat of the close call he had last cycle. He certainly could not win, based upon his record. He doesn't have one. His influence in Congress is far below his seniority level. He has sponsored no significant bill, except for the pro-Union "Card Check" legislation. His ads only tout his voting record; not his record of sponsored legislation. He draws a paycheck. What a waste of a congressional seat. It's too bad, because as poor as we are, the 2nd District could really use some decent representation.

They used to say "May the better man/person win" but that doesn't hold true anymore.

BVR states "we have this one in the bag". Because he knows Coach told a truth in another posting when Coach said. “Blacks feel like they are owed reparations for helping to build the USA and were denied, so now welfare is a little payback for them” Bishop is their man and he knows with his promises he has bought their vote. Coach and BVR vote for their list of heroes not because they are moving their race forward but because it is pure payback.

Did I miss the part of the Stimulus that helped buy new luxury import automobiles for the less fortunate? Every time I drive my old Caddy around this town in the middle of the day (the one with 218,000 miles...yeah that one) I see all these new Mercedes and BMWs etc etc. I must have missed it because I sure should use a new $125,000 vehicle to ride in. I KNOW there aren't that many people in this town making what it takes to pay those payments, plus their house payment, their grocery bill, their taxes, their gas money, their power bill. Legally, that is.

I pray for the day that the people in Dougherty County (and this country) will have the sense to vote for the people running for office that have integrity, honesty, and a willingness to improve our community. Voting for someone because of the collor of their skin is WRONG! There have been those in the past that tried to teach this leason: Do not judge a person by the color of their skin, but by their character. Many want to honor this person, but do not want to abide by those words/teachings.The same holds true for Jesus Christ. Many great words/teachings from the son of God, but fewer and fewer actually practice those life saving words for a better way of living. Instead we see too much hate, too many kind words being twisted, and too many people turning their heads when thugs are committing crimes. S Bishop has not been as faithful as some of you may think. Look real close at the illegal grants to family members/relatives and you will see the real deal.
