Westover band boosters to sell fireworks during fundraiser

ALBANY -- When it comes to fundraising, most school booster organizations usually fall back on the tried and true such as raffles, car washes and candy sales.

Westover High School's band boosters, however, are trying to do something in a more unique fashion.

The Marching Patriots Boosters will operate a fireworks tent at the Ledo Road Walmart from June 22 through July 5.

"The funds we will raise from this tent will allow us to support our expanding band and color guard," Westover Band Booster Club President Phillip Davis said. "We are excited about this fundraiser because we are not bothering our usual supporters by simply asking for donations."

David said the boosters will offer a "NO Duds" guarantee, several buy-one-get-one-free specials and will feature all kinds of fireworks that are legal in the state of Georgia.
