ALBANY, Ga. — In April of this year, Albany Technical College inquired about a property located between the Health Department and Regions Bank at the intersection of Slappey Boulevard and Newton Road.
For some time, ATC has been in search of additional property around its main campus to acquire for future expansion.
Recently, the owner asked Albany Tech for a $5,000 deposit of earnest money in order to hold the property, and the Albany Tech Foundation provided the funds for the deposit.
The owner is allowing the college 60 days to make a decision. If acquired, Albany Tech could utilize the property to expand the campus and provide services to the growing student population.
Some of the potential projects include, but are not limited to, a gymnasium, student housing, Student Services/Admissions building and many other needed facilities for the college.
Albany Tech spokesperson Wendy Howell said the college is excited about the possibility of expanding the campus and becoming an even greater source for technical education in the Southwest Georgia region.
