ALBANY -- Dorothy Jean Jackson, affectionately known as "Doll" began her earthly journey on August 17, 1938 to the late Joe Lee Anderson and Cennie Miller Anderson. "Doll" accepted Christ at an early age and joined Thankful Baptist Church in Newton, Georgia. After moving to Albany, Georgia, she later became a member of Beulah Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Reynolds. She was a faithful choir member at both. She was a graduate of East Baker High School in Newton, Georgia and her higher education at Savannah State College in Savannah, Georgia and Albany Junior College in Albany, Georgia.
"Doll" worked for many years with Baker County Board of Education. Also operating in her passion, she opened her heart and home and became a Foster Parent to many children, who adorn her. She Loved life and she loved her family. Her grandchildren were the joy of her life as well as she was theirs.
"Doll" took her flight from this life to be forever with the Lord on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
She leaves to mourn and cherish her memories her children Barbara (Terry) Hillmon of Macon, Georgia, Cheryl (David) Molina of Lowell, Massachusetts, Larry Jackson of Albany, Georgia and Brenda Jackson of Augusta, Georgia; One brother Paul (Mae Francis) Anderson of Newton, Georgia; eleven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral Services will be conducted Sunday, June 24, 2012 at 2:30PM at Thankful Baptist Church in Newton. Rev. Wadis Williams will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held today, Saturday, June 23, 2012 from 9:00AM until 6:00PM at M. L. King Southside Chapel, 1908 M. L. King, Jr. Drive. The family will receive friends at 505 Endicott Lane.
