ALBANY — Summer is officially under way, and so are Darton summer camps.
Darton State College offers a variety of summer camp experiences for kids of all ages, including sports camps, science camp and a leadership camp. Registration is open for a number of July camps.
Kids will be able to have fun with science at the WOW Science Camp. For ages 7-11, the camp is scheduled for July 9–12, from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Participants will make ooey-gooey slime, build a volcano and watch it erupt, work with magnets, make a dinosaur grow two times its original size, try myth buster experiments and many more fun lab activities. The WOW Science Camp costs $130 and includes a T-shirt.
The American Girl® Camp, for ages 7-12, is scheduled for July 16–19, from 8:30 a.m. to noon. Participants will travel through time with Kit, Nellie, Josefina and Kristen to learn what it was like to face some of the most significant events in American history. Activities will celebrate the lives and capture the spirit of these inspiring heroines. The camp ends with a tea party for the participants and their American Girl® doll. The American Girl Camp costs $125 and includes a T-shirt.
Send your kids on a road trip to the Appalachian Mountains this summer with the Outdoor Leadership Travel Camp. Youths ages 14-17 will have a fun-filled week gaining outdoor and leadership skills. Participants will start the week with a preparation and skills-building day at Darton to prepare for the week in the mountains. Some activities on the trip include hiking, rock climbing, fly-fishing and whitewater rafting. The outdoor adventure begins at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, July 23, and will end at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 26. The Outdoor Leadership Travel Camp costs $225 and includes a T-shirt.
Other summer camps available include American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training, Splash into Swim, Cavalier Afternoon Activities, and many sports camps.
