Leadership graduation set

ALBANY, Ga. — Albany ARC will host the Class of 2012 Dougherty Leadership Development Institute graduation ceremony at 6 p.m. Monday at Chehaw Park’s Creekside Education Center.

Keynote speaker for the event will be Judy Randall, owner of Central Monitoring Services Inc. and former president of the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce.

The DLDI Class of 2012 will be recognized for its completion of the program. Each year, two awards are given at the ceremony: the Otis M. Burgess Award and the Ellen D. Raulerson Award.

Each year the class kicks off with a retreat in January to strengthen each participant’s personal leadership style.

“It’s about learning how to get along and showing people that somebody in a wheelchair can also be a contributing member of the community,” DLDI Program Director Lou Lee said.

The DLDI class sessions are held once monthly for six months for a full day of presentations and tours.
