Albany Emergency responders rescued a man from a sandbar across the Georgia Power Company Reservoir from the Cromartie Beach Boat Ramp at about 3:47 p.m. Saturday. The Albany Fire Department launched a boat with a Dougherty County EMS paramedic on board after receiving a distress call from the man's family, also on the sandbar. On a family outing the man probably gave in to the 95-degree heat reported by Fox 31 Weather. The man's name was unavailable, but Sam Allen, paramedic supervisor at the boat ramp, said that the man would be taken by ambulance to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital for observation and possible treatment.
