BLAKELY -- Edna Nell Mathis Cook, 90, passed away Monday, June 25, 2012 at the Calhoun Medical Center in Arlington, GA. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at 11 AM at the Milford Baptist Church in Milford, GA. Rev. Preston Wilson officiating. Serving as Active pallbearers will be David Hendrickson, Jimmy Dunn, Stuart Hathorn, Vic Hathorn, Jay Hathorn, Kevin Cook, and Nathan Collins. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be the Allen Dean, Henry Davis, Deacons of Milford Baptist Church and the members of the Phoebean Sunday School Class.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6-8 PM.
Mrs. Cook was born in Newville, AL on May 21, 1922 to the late Raymond Lee and Mary Lee Roney Mathis. She was a homemaker and a member of the Milford Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by a son, John Raymond Hathorn, and by two brothers, Thomas Edward Mathis and James Robert Mathis.
Mrs. Cook is survived by her husband, Charles Cook of Leary, GA; one daughter, Anita and Randy Carver of Albany, GA; two sons, Rodney and Debra Hathorn of Arlington, GA and Michael and Carla Cook of Morgan, GA; one sister, Sue and Ronnie Benson of Dothan, AL; grandchildren: David Hendrickson (Misti), Kara Hendickson Dunn (Jimmy), Stuart Hathorn (Lynn), Vic Hathorn (Chelsea), Jay Hathorn (Ashley), Kevin Cook (Tiffany), Whitney Cook Collins (Nathan); great-grandchildren: Tyler and Emma Hendrickson, Bryce and Brad Dunn, Kayden Collins, Conley Cook, and Mac Hathorn; and by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Milford Baptist Church, 1429 Milford Church Rd. Leary, Ga. 39862.
