Hospital CEO to be sentenced Thursday

ALBANY, Ga. — Ken Beverly, former CEO of Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, will be sentenced in Albany today, court officials say.

Beverly will stand before Judge Louis Sands at 10 a.m. today at the C.B. King federal courthouse.

Beverly was convicted in December 2010 of six felony counts related to Medicaid fraud and obstruction in U.S. District Court.

Beverly faces a maximum of 20 years in federal prison.

Beverly had asked the court for a new trial, a move that prompted Sands to delay sentencing until after May 25.

The former CEO resigned from his post in 2008 and walked away with more than $6.1 million in compensation and benefits. He was later indicted by a federal grand jury.
