ALBANY -- Bonnie Fay McCoy, 74, of Albany, died Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at Wynfield Park Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Her memorial service will be Saturday, July 21 at 11:30 AM at Porterfield Memorial United Methodist Church. Jennifer Shierling, Minister of Spiritual Formation, will officiate. Miss McCoy's remains were cremated and a private burial service will be held later at Smithville City Cemetery with interment in the Wells family plot.
Miss McCoy was born in Opelika, Alabama, and she had lived in Albany since 1988. She was very active in Porterfield Memorial United Methodist Church where she volunteered on fund raising campaigns for Meals on Wheels and Relay for Life. A cancer survivor for 20 years, she was an enthusiastic supporter of cancer research. In earlier years, she was a volunteer with the Salvation Army Bell Ringers and an active member/client of Albany Advocacy Resource Center (ARC). She was an avid Auburn-War Eagle and Atlanta Braves fan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Watson McCoy and Beulah Clark McCoy, a brother, Robert "Bob" C. McCoy and a sister, Agnes V. McCoy May.
Survivors include her sister-in-law/caregiver, Arlee McCoy, one nephew, David McCoy (Robbie), Leesburg, one niece, Phyllis McCoy Lightle (Bill), Fayetteville, two great-nieces, Rhiannon McCoy and Sarah A. Lewis, Albany, and one great-nephew, Troy A. Lewis, Fayetteville, her life-mate of 20 years, Charles Wells, Albany, and a host of friends.
