If he has to pay for it, then he should be able to watch.

I go with Rush on this one. She can't afford birth control, her partner can't afford birth control, they must have sex, so it's my responsibility to buy birth control for them. Good thinking. Great wisdom. Maybe the squawker could sent them a check.

Jimboob 2 years, 9 months ago

It was not about affording birth control it's about what the plan was supposed to include. If you had a health plan through your work or school as Ms. Fluke has then you would want everything the plan was to include. Her school (Georgetown Law) didnot want to cover contraceptives.

0

TrixibelleBento 2 years, 9 months ago

My insurance plan pays a portion of contraception, but not the whole thing and I think that's the way it should be. I am still required to pay for some of it. Take responsibility for your actions. Don't expect the Guv-mint to do everything for you. Condoms are usually given out free on college campuses and aren't that expensive!

Ms. Fluke could just keep her knees together. She doesn't require the government for that.

1

gotanyfacts 2 years, 9 months ago

If the school is paying for it, then why shouldn't they be the ones to determine what they are buying?

LuLu 2 years, 9 months ago

Oh puh-leez! If you listen to him at all, you know he was being sarcastic. He was pointing out the utter absurdity of the woman's testimony by being absurd.

1

skilletsdirt 2 years, 9 months ago

I found it rather odd that the lady (?) can afford the cost of law school, but can't afford to buy birth control pills or condoms. If she became a lesbian, her pregnancy worries would be over.

1

erudite 2 years, 9 months ago

Conservatives should be careful what they wish for; if birth control for women is outlawed, perhaps many will choose to have sex with other women so they do not have to worry about pregnancies. Then what will the conservatives, especially religious conservatives, do then? Outlaw women? Outlaw sex? Perhaps men will have to relaize that they must play a part in preventing pregnancies as well. If men play no part, then every pregnant woman is a Virgin Mary.

Sister_Ruby 2 years, 9 months ago

Suggestion: research who founded and runs the orphanages both here and globally as well as orther organizations who raise private funds to care for children (Compassion International, Christian Children's Fund etc etc etc etc) and you will find that your insult to "religious conservatives" does not hold water. They raise more and accomplish more than all the governments combined. You are just a bigot.

1

erudite 2 years, 9 months ago

I do social research for a living, Sister Ruby. Why are there so many children in orphanages to begin with? Religious leaders/sects have founded all sorts of social programs; I do not deny that. How do you figure I am a bigot? Your answer to unwanted pregnancies is to give the children away? So they can sit in one of the orphanges waiting for an adoptive couple...providing the couple is hetereosexual? Where is your outrage about the number of children in orphanages already? Why do so many couples go to Russia or China for adoption?

0

gotanyfacts 2 years, 9 months ago

Where did you get this idea of outlawing contraception? Do not trust your source in the future!

0

erudite 2 years, 9 months ago

Outlawing in the sense of restriction of access. The restrictions are tantamount to laws. If one does not have legal access, perhaps the access will be illegal. You know, like kids with cigarettes and liquor. the substances are legal for some and not for others.

0

gotanyfacts 2 years, 9 months ago

Your logic is ridiculous! By your thought process, since access to a meal at Zaxby's is restricted to those who are willing and able to pay and the government has not yet required that Zaxby's provide the meals free of charge, eating at Zaxby's is being outlawed! Let me know if I'm missing something here.

0

agirl_25 2 years, 9 months ago

There were laws in the 1920's that denied a woman's ability to gain access to birth control. I know, because my mother was born in 1906 and used to tell me how it was back then, when she was of child bearing age and how laws suppressed the distribution of birth control information. My mother told me horror stories of what some women went thru back then and hoped her daughters would never have to go thru what she saw. Didn't anyone ever hear of Margaret Sanger?

0

erudite 2 years, 9 months ago

I think we have hit the brick wall, agirl_25.

0

Sister_Ruby 2 years, 9 months ago

Yes, she was one of proponents of Eugenics (look it up, y'all) which had the goal of purifying the human race by forcing sterilization of female children with birth defects, mental disorders, who were considered "compulsively loose" morally, and so on. She helped found what would become Planned Parenthood, but originally it meant the above things, not what it stands for today. But I don't agree with all that it stands for today, either as it relates to unlimited abortion at any time up to and including 1 second before birth.

0

agirl_25 2 years, 9 months ago

I know who she was and I know about Eugenics..it was part of my research for my doctorate....but she was an advocate for birth control...she taught women how to prevent pregnancy. There was a time in some states in the north when contraceptives were against the law and Ms Sanger showed the women alternate means of birth control (and NO I don't mean abortion) ie., by using sheep intestines as condoms. One of the most interesting things about research is talking to people who have experienced the actual things one is researching......ergo......the Eugenics of which you speak. I have been to Dachau and seen the concentration camps...my sister's best friend is a survivor of one of them and the experiments in eugenics, and I think Planned Parenthood serves a great purpose. I would rather know they have helped prevent an unplanned pregnancy than know of an unwanted child born and ending up in an orphanage. Or worse yet, ending up like so many we read of...ending up dead or beaten by some woman's sorry boyfriend. Rant on, for it falls on deaf ears. I am now and forever shall remain Pro Choice and Pro Planned Parenthood.

0

erudite 2 years, 9 months ago

Yes, I think you are misreading my logic. Let's compare food, not ready cooked meals, to contraception. Everyone has access to food; some can afford it by themselves, some cannot and rely on assistance. Everyone has access to contraception; some can afford it and choose to use it, some will need assistance. Yes, there are places where both men and women can receive free contraception but many cannot access those places. Can I stop paying for Viagra and Cialis, two drugs that promote promiscuousness among men?

0

gotanyfacts 2 years, 9 months ago

"Let's compare food, not ready cooked meals, to contraception. Everyone has access to food; some can afford it by themselves, some cannot and rely on assistance. Everyone has access to contraception; some can afford it and choose to use it, some will need assistance."
Ok, they have that in common. How does not requiring that assistance equate with outlawing. You must, and probably do, redefine words to make your claim work.

If you listen to people like Rush and those other psychos on FOX.....you are just as crazy....Rush gets paid to make stupid comments.....you squawk for free.....

0

Sister_Ruby 2 years, 9 months ago

If all we ever heard was the "mainstream media" we would be of all people the most to be pitied. Thank God for a free press as long as it lasts.

2

erudite 2 years, 9 months ago

Do you really think we have free press? Why the 5 second delay? Why are reality shows scripted? Why does the Herald hold certain posts? Why are there only 6 media owners? Who is the parent company of the Herald? It's not the Herald!!

0

gotanyfacts 2 years, 9 months ago

You don't really think you made a logical point here, do you?

0

erudite 2 years, 9 months ago

Just suggesting to Sister R that we do not have a free press. Wow, are you defensive or what?

0

gotanyfacts 2 years, 9 months ago

I don't want to speak for Ruby, but I think her reference to free press is that the government has not stopped the expression of opposing views, yet! I could not see how a five second delay or scripting "reality" shows supports the absence of a free press. I would agree that freedom of speech is under attack, but we still have it.

0

Shinedownfan 2 years, 9 months ago

I listen to talk radio and look on the internet to get the real news. The mainstream media tells us what they want us to hear. I am not one of the ignorant ones out there because of it. I am so thankful for talk radio!

2

erudite 2 years, 9 months ago

Talk radio is also staged. Those stations have an agenda and tell you want they want you to hear. Do you believe that talk radio is objective?

0

agirl_25 2 years, 9 months ago

I had some very serious spinal surgery in 02 that required weeks of bedrest and I was bored senseless. My husband is an electronics nut and has all sorts of satellites programmed into our receiver where we can pick up all sorts of talk radio from all over the place and I listened to many during the weeks I was recuperating. I got the idea to call in to some (evil wicked grin) and got my script all ready. You would be suprised at how staged most of them are. Since I am very rural, back then I had to have a phone line for my internet so I used to unplug the PC and use that line for my call to the station. I would begin dialing the second the announcer said they were taking calls and usually they only took the first 12 or 15 calls and they kept you in line and let you know how long you may have to wait. While waiting they asked you your name, age, etc, and the nature of your call. Depending on the business of the day I would have notes ready. I remember the day I called in to one of the financial consultants shows and told them I was so excited (in my best hillbilly voice) because I had just won the Georgia state lottery and had not told anyone because I was too scared to and didn't know what to do about the money and acted like an idiot. They were on me like white on rice. I used to have fun with them...they were so desperate to have me stay on the line, so they could get my number and have one of their consultants call me at a convenient time to set up a meeting to help me with my finances. My husband also used to program different satellites into our receiver (we have the big dish) and find open feeds on the TV programs.....which means they were live feeds where the TV personalities or news reporters were taped for later broadcast and they were told what to say, how to say it and how to act when they said it. Many times it was kind of surprising to see well known personalities be themselves and not slip in to their "fake mode". I must admit tho that I did enjoy talking to Ludlow Porch...I always kept it real with him and Denny and I miss him....may he RIP.

Who is CRAZY? Rush gets paid and Coach says stupids things for FREE!

Abytaxpayer.....thanks for the laugh. That attachment - "I'm not saying you're stupid..." was funny.

0

chinaberry25 2 years, 9 months ago

Fox is not more bigot than CNN. It seem that you see things the way you want to see, and if all does not agree then they are bigots. You are the most racist person on this site and everyone knows it.

0

Jimboob 2 years, 9 months ago

Is the "Driveby" media wrong just because it doesn't agree with Rush? Or is it wrong because it's wrong. Rush may be Right but he is usually wrong.

1

erudite 2 years, 9 months ago

Where do you get your facts?

0

gotanyfacts 2 years, 9 months ago

A variety of places. I try to check out "quotes" from programs to see how accurate they are in presenting the intent of the speaker. I prefer hearing or watching speeches and interviews and then observing how they are presented by the various outlets. Being retired, I have time to do that sometimes, much as it will gall you, Fox seems to be most true to the original. Not perfect, but much better than broadcast news. CNN comes in a distant second and msnbc last. Everyone has their biases and everyone is influenced by those biases. Radio talk hosts typically identify their biases. Rush admits his putpose is to promote conservative ideas. But he supports his stands with info that can be checked out if the listener wishes to do so. Whatever you "know" about what Rush believes, it probably came from someone who claims to know "what he realy means".

Is a wonderful place to get facts. They even have a LIAR LIAR PANTS ON FIRE area that I love and there are certainly a lot of people with pants on fire.

coachjohnson42 2 years, 9 months ago

ABYTAXPAYER got his FOX-EDUCATION from people like RUSH,NEWT, and BILL O'REILLY....thus concluding.......his brain is small and his body parts are proportional!!!!

0

Shinedownfan 2 years, 9 months ago

Why do you have to sling insults at people? They did nothing to you...

1

coachjohnson42 2 years, 9 months ago

But back to the real bloggers.....and the issue....Rush gets paid every time he says stupid controversial things. He's probably not even a Republican. He just feeds off your hatred and says what you want him to say....

0

gotanyfacts 2 years, 9 months ago

Coach, I'm sure you spend a lot of time listening to Rush, just like I spend a lot of time watching MSNBC. I have listened to him for years. He gets paid, not for saying stupid things, but for pointing out the tremendous flaws in big government liberalism. He uses a variety of methods to make it interesting including humor and absurdity. Most of the examples used by those who are on the opposing side of his politics quote his gags as if they were his straight material. In this instance he made the point that it is absurd for an individual to expect someone else, anyone else, to pay for this student's contraceptives. In no way did Rush, or as for as I have heard any other conservative, call for outlawing or denying anyone's access to contraceptives. The fact that many believe that is what conservatives have called for proves that you can not trust the mainstream media. What other opinions have you had molded by mainstream journalists with an agenda?

0

CJ_Fan 2 years, 9 months ago

Give it up Coach.....You proved the point!!!!!! Rush gets paid while you do it for FREE...We clearly see who the smart one is and isn't.

0

coachjohnson42 2 years, 9 months ago

True, and its certainly not your dumb inbred behind......

0

chinaberry25 2 years, 9 months ago

Yes, and I will bet that Rush makes a lot more money than Coach. Also he has inherited a lot more too. Rush just keeps the Democrats on their toes. He does not have to copy and paste like you.

0

coachjohnson42 2 years, 9 months ago

Of course he makes more money than me dummy...I make an honest living.

0

gotanyfacts 2 years, 9 months ago

Erudite, first I really appreciate your nickname. I had a pet turtle named speedy when I was a kid! But, you're serious.. aren't you? :(

0

erudite 2 years, 9 months ago

Yes, I am serious. However, I did not know that it took so little to be erudite in SW GA. Good luck in your future.

0

gotanyfacts 2 years, 9 months ago

Either you missed my point, or you failed to make yours.

0

erudite 2 years, 9 months ago

Ditto. But let me make it clearer for you: I could claim erudition in SW GA with a GED. It does not take objectivity to claim erudition here. Again, good luck in your future.

0

gotanyfacts 2 years, 9 months ago

And you could claim erudition while being a kindergarten washout! Obviously, objectivity is not required to make a claim of being erudite. Based upon your posts, evidence of being knowledgeable is also not required. I hope you don't get a nosebleed from that high pedastal you seem to have built for yourself. ;)

0

agirl_25 2 years, 9 months ago

I wonder if Rush is on Medicare yet. Can you just imagine what he would do if he was and they stopped paying for his Erectile Dysfunction devices? I can just hear him now....blasting the Women's Lib movement and the Liberals for that.....gotta love it....

0

coachjohnson42 2 years, 9 months ago

Newt and Rush are almost alike....fat, ridiculous, loud, extreme, obnoxious, rude,pig-headed, hateful, crazy conservatives......oh wait, that's what you like here in South Georgia......hahahaha

0

gotanyfacts 2 years, 9 months ago

With the exception of conservative, you just described Barney Frank and Michael Moore. Must be conservative principles that we like. If you were familiar with those principles, as they realy are rather than how liberals define them, you might become one!
