Man in hospital after leaping from car

— Alonzo Hammond, 19, suffered a serious head injury after he leaped out of a moving vehicle to avoid being stabbed by a fellow passenger Saturday, said an Albany Police Department official.

A man sitting in the front passenger seat of a 2005 Pontiac Grand Am tried to stab Hammond as they rode on the 100 block of Turner Field Road, said Phyllis Banks, police spokeswoman. Hammond is in the Intensive Care Unit at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, she added. Officers have not released the name of the female driver.

“The suspect pulled a knife out and tried to stab Hammond,” Banks said. “Hammond jumped from the car to avoid a knife assault.”

No further information of the case was immediately available.

Put both in jail driver and passenger and make them work until they pay off the hospital bill. The taxpayers should not have to foot bills for known felons.

But we will have to foot them...

Jumping from a sinking ship or getting stabbed to death if you don't. This must be an allegory of what it's like to live in Dougherty County. Say it ain't so?!?
