AMERICUS — The Georgia Southwestern State Dramatic Arts Department and Sumter Players will present “Chicago,” the longest running American musical on Broadway, this weekend.

The performances will be at 8 p.m. Thursday-Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Rylander Theatre, 310 W. Lamar St.

The musical is based on events that occurred in 1924 during prohibition. Heading the cast is Christi Barr as Velma Kelly and Daina Rosario as Roxie Hart, two women who are being tried for murder. Their attorney, Billy Flynn, is played by Will Dozier. Other cast members include Lisa Hacker, Ken DiNella and Joey Dunn.
