ALBANY, Ga. — Elizabeth McQueen, the clinical director of the Albany Area Community Service Board, will be the featured speaker Tuesday during the March NAMI Night.

McQueen will speak on community resources for those dealing with mental illnesses during the monthly open meeting held by the Albany affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness. NAMI is the nation’s largest grassroots organization that deals with mental illness issues.

The Albany Area Community Service Board is a public nonprofit organization that provides mental health, addictive disease and developmental disability services in the region. Those services are especially valuable because the National Institute of Mental Health says that one in four adults experiences a mental health disorder during a given year, and almost one in 10 children live with a serious mental or emotional disorder.

Following Tuesday’s NAMI Night program, which starts at 6:30 at Phoebe Northwest on Dawson Road, support group sessions will be held for adults in recovery and a separate session for family members.
