ALBANY — A woman who had been trusted with the bookkeeping at Lily Pad Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Center is being accused of stealing from the organization.
Robin Dunn was arrested on a felony theft by taking charge on Feb. 29. Officials with the Dougherty District Attorney’s Office confirmed she is accused of stealing $8,431.20.
Investigators believe the theft was taking place from August 2010 — July 2011 while Dunn was working as a consultant contractor. Negotiations are taking place as it relates to a plea offer with her lawyer, officials said Monday.
The arrest was made by the Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office.
When contacted for comment on the situation, Lily Pad Executive Director Karen Kemp referred to Karen Cohilas, chair of the organization’s board of directors.
Cohilas said that, when the financial operations were brought in house, the irregularities were immediately brought before the board — which in turn notified law enforcement.
“Our strong financial policies and oversight caught it, and we were able to get it turned over (to law enforcement),” Cohilas said. “As the board chair, it made me feel confident to know it was discovered quickly.”
