CAMILLA — Westwood took advantage of 12 walks issued by the Valwood pitching staff and won Monday’s game with ease, 15-0 in four innings.
Tyler Classon threw three innings and picked up the win for the Wildcats, who improved to 3-1.
Caleb Morrell and J.T. Edore each had two hits to lead Westwood at the plate.
BACONTON CHARTER 5, WORTH COUNTY 2: Brock Pinson was 2-for-3 at the plate and threw 4.1 innings to lead Baconton Charter to a 5-2 win Monday against Worth County.
William Sullivan relieved Pinson in the eighth inning and threw 3.2 innings before Pinson re-entered the game to record the final out of the eighth inning.
Sullivan, who recently threw his first no-hitter, got the win and improved to 4-0 on the mound.
Also with two hits for Baconton Charter (6-2) were Zach Jones, Sullivan and Alex Carden.
DEERFIELD-WINDSOR SWEEPS TIFTAREA
ALBANY — Deerfield-Windsor’s boys and girls tennis teams stayed unbeaten at 6-0 by sweeping Tiftarea Monday afternoon at Darton. The DWS boys won their match 6-0 and the girls won 7-0.
Nasser Rizvi, Chap Ivey and Ben Hoopes won singles matches for the boys and Robert Newsome and Reid Wright won at No. 1 boys doubles while Will Calhoun and Pete Langstaff won at No. 2 doubles for DWS.
The girls were led by No. 1 singles winner Joyner Tyson and No. 2 singles winner Caroline Holley. Ansley Arrington won at No. 3 singles, and Lucy Kelley and Hope Kitchen won at No. 1 doubles while Amy Rao and Paige Hawke won at No. 2 doubles for the girls.
GSW GOLF STRUGGLES
VALDOSTA — Georgia Southwestern fell from the No. 1 ranking in Div. II two weeks ago, and on Monday, the Hurricanes fell down the leaderboard at the Southeastern Collegiate at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club.
The 13th-ranked Hurricanes finished Monday’s two rounds at 20-over, which tied them with Valdosta State for 11th place in the 14-team tournament.
GSW’s Craig Gibson is at even par after a pair of 72s, which is good enough for 17th place, but he is 10 shots behind North Alabama’s Tyler Chandler with one day remaining.
