DAWSON — Short & Paulk Supply Company in Dawson opened its doors for business Monday in the former Laing Hardware building on Forrester Drive.
Short & Paulk had purchased the store in February and has since completed extensive stocking and remodeling, according to Jay Short, president and CEO of Short & Paulk.
“We’ve been pleased with the customer traffic and the reception we’ve received on our first day,” Short said. “We look forward to serving the hardware and lumber needs for Terrell and the surrounding areas for a long time to come.”
Short said an official grand opening ceremony for the new business is planned for May 4.
According to Short, Betsy Cosby Hodges is manager of the supply company in Dawson. Hodges has more than 13 years management experience, Short said, most recently with Perry Brothers Oil Co. in Americus. In addition, Hodges has been associated with Tuggle Lumber Co. and Georgia Building Supply, both in Americus.
Short & Paulk operates hardware stores and lumberyards in Tifton, Sylvester and Albany. It also has two Tifton plants that manufacture doors, roofs and floor trusses. Among the oldest companies in Tifton, Short and Paulk was established in 1941 by J.P. Short III and his uncle, H.M. Paulk.
